I was thinking as I walked along the banks of the Tigris
Of the people who lived here long ago
The Fertile Crescent made it a popular place to live and trade
And it made it a popular place to invade
The Lugogol was the leader he led them in battle
But our class had a LugoGAL
The Sumarians built canals to irrigate the farmlands
And to try to keep invaders out
They farmed the Crescent and raised sheep

Well, farming now increased with irrigation from canals
And the cities' population grew
When people live together they need to have some rules
So they carved them on tablets with tools
Polytheists wanted a way of pleasing all the gods
So here is what they planned to do
Each city built a mud temple for one of many gods
And they called this building a ziggurat
The Sumarians invented the wheel
