Together

She never knew her background
Or the Mom who left her side
She only had but one love
And with him she did survive

They always had enough to eat
And a large and lovely home
But they never had any children
So they both lived there alone

But they did have a mistress
Who named them Bogie and Bacall
And the two cats felt so lucky
They seemed to have it all

They were very attached to the woman
Who was known by very few
And when she died no one cried
They were the only ones who knew

They were sent to an animal shelter
When a trust fund was found by their milk
Their names were neatly engraved in gold
And their cage was lined with silk

She also left a little note the day before she died
Saying they must be together and always side by side

Well, now they're with their mistress
For they both died the same day
And now they're at a resting place
Next to the woman they knew as 'May'.

People should make sure
that their pets are provided for
when they are no longer here.
