God blessed us with a special little boy on October 22, 1997. When he was 6 months old he was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1 also known as Werdnig-Hoffmann disease. This is a genetic disorder and the most severe form of SMA which prohibited him from sitting unsupported, rolling over, and head control and the severe muscle weakness eventually caused feeding and breathing problems. This disease is the leading genetic killer of children under the age of two years.
