MSNBC Investigates needs to find a victim of bullying who is willing to let them tag along with him/her during the school day. If you'd like to help get the word out & educate people on what is REALLY going on everywhere, please contact me  kthynoll@aol.com  (Also send stories of children handed over to the state)

The Ananda Lewis Show is looking for girl victims and bullies to do a good show to help both.

Inside Edition needs actual bullying caught on VIDEO.  (school or non-school related) School name doesn't need to be used and the kids/teens faces can be blurred out. They're also interested in law suits  (previous or pending) as a result of bullying.

Montel Williams Show - needs kids who are bullied/teased & don't know what to do, & the extremes some have gone to, to prevent themselves from being picked on. Good show set up as a forum (no fighting) to help them & everyone watching. Children appearing as guests will not be exploited. (Also contact me if you are the parent of a bully and would like to help your child resolve these issues)

I'm also working with  CBS News show 48 Hours & MTV (Arnold Shapiro Productions) on documentaries to help bullies & victims.  "Honest & revealing - ultimately inspiring kids to think past the current moment & realize their actions have consequences that not only effect themselves, but also their communities, classmates, friends & most often & most importantly, the people they love."

If you'd like your child/teen's story to be part of any of these shows, or if you have video or can catch bullying on video, please contact me ASAP kthynoll@aol.com       VIDEO copies of shows available -see order page

The Justice Department says 1 out of every 4 kids will be abused by another youth.

IT'S TIME TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

In a recent study, 77% of the students said they were bullied. 14% of those said they experienced severe (bad) reactions to the abuse.

It's time to take those bullies by the horns!

Hi, I'm Kathy Noll. Dr. Jay Carter & I have written a self-help book, "Taking the Bully by the Horns."  We're helping kids/teens deal with bully, self-esteem & school violence issues. This includes the victims, the bullies, AND the bystanders. We've all been bullied to some extent, and we've all seen those around us being bullied. It's time to break the "Bully Cycle."

Please contact us for more info. on our Speaking Engagements/Workshops/Prevention Programs kthynoll@aol.com

BULLYING = VIOLENCE = TRAGEDY = PRISON/SUICIDE

Our  book is helping educators all over the Globe. Principals, Guidance Counselors, Librarians, PTO's/PTA's, Childrens Organizations and Parents, have given it positive reviews & support. The problem is serious, timely and far spread.

Best-selling author of "Nasty People," professional speaker, & psychologist, Dr. Jay Carter, and I interviewed kids who had been bullied, and offered solutions to their problems. "Taking the Bully by the Horns" is the long time-requested children's version of "Nasty People."

The book's tone is interesting enough to get young people to read it. This way they will learn something without feeling like anybody is talking down to them.

One chapter tells the victim that he's "ok" (self-esteem), teaches him/her how to avoid certain situations, and explains what to do if he/she is being bullied & how to get help.

Sometimes kids get so sick of being Victims, that they become the "Bullies." They feel so bad about themselves and think that controlling someone else will make them feel better or help distract from their own problems. (In our book we call this the "Bully Cycle.")

Another chapter asks the bully why he (or she) bullies. Is he angry about something? Did someone hurt him in the past? He needs to feel better about himself in order to change, and to stop bullying.

Yes, both Victims AND Bullies have low self-esteem. Arrogance should not be mistaken for a "high self-esteem."  Someone who has a "good" self-esteem has no need to CONTROL.          -  Dr. Jay Carter

If ALL kids could understand how to accept themselves and know that they're "OK", there wouldn't have to be any "Bullies" or "Victims."

This book explores different ways kids/teens are bullied (verbally, mentally and physically), how the bully becomes a bully, how the victim becomes a victim (there can be a fine line between the two), and what can be done about it. For Elementary - Jr. High.  Adults can also share it with younger children.

We hope you find this info on our web site, and in our book, both interesting and helpful. Please take care of yourselves and your kids, and stay safe.

Best Wishes,

Kathy Noll & Dr. Jay Carter - authors "Taking the Bully by the Horns"

Tales of survival coming out of New Orleans include the rescue of dogs, cats and other family pets that had to be abandoned by families fleeing the rising water. And now help is desperately needed for the thousands of pets being rescued from the ravages of Hurricane Katrina. They are starving, dehydrated, filthy--and running out of time.

A massive relief effort in Louisiana & Mississippi to care for and reunite these lost pets with their families has been launched by the American Humane Association. Please help support their animal rescue operation at http://go.care2.com/e/EHH/AJ/FqfJ

Many of the animals who survived have suffered extreme trauma and are in need of veterinary care. Finding and being reunited with their pets will be an important part of healing the shattered lives of many people who have lost their homes, their neighborhoods, their jobs, and life as they knew it before the storm.

"Remember, you're no less important because they're older, or bigger than you. They might even feel they're better than you, but that's only ego."

--Kathy Noll & Jay Carter

Take time to read "Taking the Bully by the Horns." It will give you an insight to bullies, victims, and reactions. It is written for ease in understanding; young people can tackle this book with success, learn why's and how's of bullying, and learn that people who are bullied don't have to be "victims," and actions--not reactions--can be taken to improve situations. This simply written book can be an effective tool against bullying and at the same time provide an insight at to why young people turn to bullying.

Ginny Hoover - Teacher, Educational Consultant

As adults & children, we all deal with others thinking that what we do, what we say, how we look, or what we own is not good enough - because it is not what THEY think is "best."

All of you out there dealing with these blows to your Self-Esteem; I want you to think about these lyrics from the children's TV classic, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Listening to the song, "Misfits," something touched me:

"We may be different from the rest,

But who decides the test,

Of what is REALLY best?"

Who DID decide these things?

Don't let others put you down and try to make you into what they are because THEY decided that is the "best" way - the only way.    It is not.

YOU decide what is best for you, and then - so it is!  So be it.  Just BE.

YOU already ARE the BEST!

Sent to me by Katie, a young lady who, like everyone, did NOT deserve to be Bullied -

Why?

Why do you laugh at me,
And why do you make fun?
 I am an ordinary person,
 Just like everyone.
Please tell me today, I would like to know, Why you point and stare, And make me your show? You laugh at me, Then call me names. Hurting me dearly, When you think it’s a game. But I can’t help it, It is who I am, I can’t ever be cured, medicine like that isn’t known to man. Stop for a minute, And recall what you said. All those poisonous words, You programmed into my head. Words can kill, More often than thought. And from those words, Grave actions are sought. When someone is different, Please let them be. For your unfortunate wish, Could cause their destiny. So I ask you again, Just one last time; Why do you laugh at me, And why do you make fun? I am an ordinary person, Just like everyone.
SELF-ESTEEM A person's worth is contingent upon who he is, not upon what he does, or how much he has. The worth of a person, or a thing, or an idea, is in being, not in doing, not in having. Alice Mary Hilton
