Kevin began his racing career in the competitive Toyota Sedan class at Madera Speedway. After just a few years Kevin began to dominate this class. In 1997 he won 6 main events, 4 trophy dashes and captured the Madera Speedway Track Championship in his class.

In 1997 Kevin destroyed the Toyota track record with an unmatched 17.91 Second Lap !! This record still stands to this day.

In 1998 Kevin moved up to the Modified Super Toyota Class (MST). Kevin started more quickly in this class, winning 2 main events his first year and finishing 3rd in the points championship.

Kevin took a year off from racing in 1999 to concentrate on his wedding plans. Kevin and Roxanne were married on 5/15/99.

Kevin started the 2000 season where he left off in 1998. He raced the Super Toyota at Madera, winning 3 Main Events and finished 2nd in the points race.
