The ABA is one of the better programs provided to all KYOWVA Area Local members.
Thats right, if your paying dues and get hurt due to an accident the ABA pays currently
about $12.00 a day or roughly over $300.00 a month.
There is also, death benefit coverage of $6,000.00 for you and I believe your spouse is also covered. Check out their web site for up to date accurate details.
In the past, I and others have used the benefit. Historically they pay off quickly if you have an appropriate claim.
Basically. if you get hurt or die due to an accident your family only needs to contact the President of our local or the ABA at the telephone number above or on their web site.
I received over several hundred dollars after being involved in a car wreck while on Union Business several years ago when myself and Greg Tweel almost bit the dust after a 5 car crash on route 10 in West Virginia between Chapmansville, WV and Huntington. Thanks to the ABA I had extra money on top of my annual leave to make it until I was able to return to work.
There are exceptions however, In situations where back injuries are claimed they are a little more particular about paying off.
Usually you get your forms, get the dctor to coroborate the fact you sustained and injury due to an accident and have to be off work, turn papers into our President and if it is filed within 90 days of accident your normally paid in 2 weeks.
