THE MIGRATION OF OUR FAMILY
Our PRESTININZI Family originates in CAULONIA,(RC), Calabria, ITALY. We have found traces of them in Caulonia as far back as the 1840's. Many of our Prestininzi family from the generation born around the 1860's immigrated to America in the latter part of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Some came through Ellis Island and some came through Boston. There were some that settled in West Virginia and later moved on to parts of Michigan, California, & New York. My Current Research
I am in need of ANY information on the first person listed in this family line:
VINCENZO PRESTININZI (born possibly around 1840's but it could have been earlier or later). He did have at least one of his children by 1862 so that may give some clue! We have no information on Vincenzo or his parents or siblings. ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated.
I have found that there are PRESTININZI'S in CAULONIA & ROMA, ITALY:
MARCELLO PRESTININZI, RITA PRESTININZI, PROFESSOR ALBERTO PRESTININZI, CARMELLA PRESTININZI, JACOPO PRESTININZI, MARCO PRESTININZI, ANGELA PRESTANINZI
I THINK THEY WOULD HAVE SOME KNOWLEDGE OF THE FAMILY CONNECTION THAT IS TO BE FOUND HERE. I JUST HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ANY OF THESE PRESTININZI'S.
WE HAVE ALSO LOCATED SEVERAL OTHER PRESTININZI'S THAT CAME TO AMERICA AROUND THE TURN OF THE 19TH-20TH CENTURY.
There is a TOMASSO PRESTININZI who was married to CATERINA PUCCIO in CAULONIA, Calabria, ITALY.
They had 4 children: Domenico, Luigi, Ilario & Vincenzo
We know some information about the descendants of TOMASSO PRESTININZI but are very interested in how TOMASSO could be related to our VINCENZO (the first name in our line). There is no information about Tomasso's parents or siblings just as there is no info about Vincenzo's parents or siblings and since they were born around the same time and in the same town in ITALY and most of their descendants came to the USA around the same time, we are inclined to believe there is a connection here.
Maybe Tomasso and Vincenzo were brothers or cousins?
Also, we have Prestininzi cousins that live in Michigan but the Father changed their name to Prestonise and nobody knows how they are connected only that they are cousins to Grandpa Dominick Prestininzi. Anyone know where the connection lies?
Someone out there must have some information on this family line, PLEASE HELP!!!!
Any info or ideas on how we could retrieve any info that would help us to track the family lineage further would be so greatly appreciated!!
