A little about myself
My name is Marvin J.Burnette(Many Horses) I am an Enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe South Dakota and was raised on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation South Dakota.As a young boy,I can remember someone drumming,someone singing and me dancing at the Cheyenne Frontier Days.It all seems so distant,but also,like it was only yesterday. I am a Traditional Dancer attend many Pow-wow's.I have had the Honor to be Headman Dancer at a number of Pow-wow's and the Honor to take part in the Native American Veteran Color/Honor Guard at Pow-wow's across the U.S. I have also had the Honor to be asked to M.C. at a number of Pow-wow's.Although all native have there own tribal traditions,when we approach the circle,we share different cultures we dance as"One People" All native people are faced with the same economical, political,social and cultural issues. As a native people, we must continue to preserve"our native heritages regardless of tribal affilations.With the many issues involving native people, I can see a need for a stronger"Warror Society". Some of my experiences have been as an Actor as the Main character role,"Lost Face"production of Jack London's short story adopted as a cinema/movie.I was in a International Television Production in France and the Summer Series "Follow That Dream" on Channel 9 Manchester,NH. and on Good Morning America, NYC... I have toured with the Native American Cultural Exchange,for the International Folklore Festival,in Martique France and the Island of Corsica,and was asked to travel to New Brunswick'Canada U.S./Canadian Native American Culture Exchange.In an effort to provide a better understanding of Native American culture I am extensively involved in providing Native American Awareness to numerous pre-schools,elementary,middle,high school,and various colleges/universities, also included are businesses and non-profit organizations.The programs offered are structured to the understanding of the attendending audience. I am Registered with the New Hampshire State Council on The Arts,a few programs I have completed are Internal Revenue Service New England Region ,Sierra Club Massachussetts Chapter,AT&T-Northeastern Region Headquarters,Worcester Art Museum"Heritage of the Land" Exhibit,and on the advisory committee,Liberty Mutual Insurance Corporation,Federal Avation Agency New EnglandRegion,Boston Children's Museum, Digital Electronics Shrewsbery Ma,The Big Dig Boston Harbor Program,New Hampshire, Coalition for "Anti-Abused of Children"with Miss Teenage NH,Miss Nashua NH.,Mrs.New Hampshire,and Miss New Hampshire

         When I hear a drummer drum,and the singers whisper a song to the wind,
         in memory of my deceased brother Gilbert who was killed in Viet Nam,
         I will dance  "In The Spirit of Crazy Horse"

My years as a  LIFER
U.S. Army Veteran with 21 years of honorable military service,spent my time in Vietnam,We as a family were stationed in Germany,Japan,USA,I was also a Counselor,Race Relations/Equal Opportunity and Ethinic Awareness along with my other duties "My wife was a footlocker baby(Army Brat) and the Colonel's daughter"


Things I / we like to do
Listing to the sounds of the drum the heart beat of the Native American's People. My wife Emily of {30+years} and I love to travel to Pow-wow's across the country seeing old friends and meeting new ones,we also take our dog Shadow he is a Pappillon and loves to travel to the Pow-wow's
