Here are some Charities which I feel are Helping very worthy causes:
Any Animal Shelter but Especially Consider:
Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF)
60 Simmons Lane
Beacon, NY 12508
(845) 831-5161
This animal shelter absolutely does not put any animals to sleep just because they don't have a home to go to!! If there is no room at this shelter then they do not accept
animals into the Shelter until there is room. This is mostly run by volunteers and from what I know of, the founder used her own time and effort to run and provide for the animals in this shelter. I have no affiliation or reason to benefit from asking you to consider donating to this particular shelter (time, money, food, litter, whatever) other than the good I see happening to animals here!! I certainly believe in donating to places that do no put animals to sleep because of overpopulation. If you know of any other Shelters with similar policies, please let me know!
American Cancer Society
Need I say more about this wonderful organization?
Any AIDS Awareness, Prevention and Research Organization
Again, need I say more?
This disease affects everyone (not just the gay/lesbian community).
We need to help everyone!
Here's One to Consider:
The Elton John AIDS Foundation
P.O. Box 2066
San Francisco, CA 94126-2066
I read this fantastic autobiography from the fellow who started this organization for the blind and seeing impaired (I don't have the title of the book handy, but I will post it shortly). He was blind, yet he travelled and "saw" more of the world than most of us can even imagine. After years of struggling, he finally discovered the wonderful interaction and support that came from seeing eye dogs. Although this fellow appears "blind" physically to many people, he is far from blind in God's eyes and has done wonderful things and touched many lives. It would be wonderful to support this organization and any like it!
Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Inc.
611 Granite Springs Rd.
Yorktown Heights, NY 10598-9986
Although I make a very special effort to resist any temptation to get involved in comercialization to support my time and effort in creating this website, it does cross my mind at times to "want to" make money by adding those annoying commercial banners, headlines, links and pop-ups. HOWEVER, what I would really love to know is that instead of me making money on this, that instead you would really consider donating to any of these charities I list (or any charity at all) as a kind of PERK for me in knowing that I am doing a good deed - and that you are doing a good deed. This will definitely give me incentive to continue to regularly spend time and energy updating this site.
I have really tried to create an informative and non-intrusive site where people like you and I can learn and share ideas about the world and about LIFE. Again, if you have suggestions or ideas about anything, please feel free to share and to refer this site to others!
