Thoughts Control Mother, Mother, where were you When I was growing up. We never talked, we never loved We never laughed it up. Busy, busy, washing clothes Then scrub and wax the floor. You always cooked, you always cleaned At night you closed the door. Crying, crying, in my sleep I needed your sweet touch. I never asked for little things Like love, it was too much. Mother, Mother, where was I When you were old and grey. I never stopped to take the time To visit for the day. Busy, busy, losing you Not thinking that you cared. Your life so hard, so undone My thoughts were so unfair. Crying, crying, by your side While you were sleeping there. Now you're gone, forever gone And it's too late to share. As a small child, I felt my mother's love and caring. As a teenager, I learned my mother's "conditions", which I did not live up to, as they were her conditions and not mine. As an adult I understood my mother's perspective and the era from which she survived. As a daughter, I forgave my mother her faults. Then I forgave myself. Mom died a horrible physical death and I was unable to stay at her side and watch her suffer. I left the room prior to her crossing over. My sister stayed with her, holding her hand. Mom died forty-seven years and forty-six minutes after giving birth to me. She crossed over on my birthday. The unresolved emotional conflicts we had at the time of her death have been eased thru spirit communication. Finally, I am at peace with her passing, and our differences.
