Just who is Lyn Dancn Club?
Lyn Dancn (pronounced "Lynn Dancing") Club, Inc. is an urban line dance organization based out of Mitchellville, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. It was founded in October 2001 by Sharon Lynn Holmes, the current president, whose middle name, Lynn, is where we got our name. Please visit our photo gallery.
LDC was created to provide an opportunity for the general population to learn the art of urban line dancing, as a method to improve heath and wellness. As in all forms of dance, urban line dancing helps strengthen the cardiovascular system and helps to relieve the stress and tensions of everyday living.
LDC's current members represent various counties in the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. metropolitian area. LDC knows approximately 110 line dances, six of which were created by the LDC President. LDC has given line dance exhibitions and demostrations in many social venues, including community volunteer performances and upscale presentations to elected local, county and state officials. LDC has also taught line dancing in the D.C. metropolitian area since 2002.
LDC has also performed at the NBC Channel 4 Health and Fitness Expo in Washington, D.C., every year since 2002. Other public D.C. appearances have been the annual Taste of D.C. and the Radio One's Stone Soul Picnic, Baltimore's Artscape and many other local community events. See our Events page to see where we have performed and taught line dancing.
In January 2005, Lyn Dancn Club became Lyn Dancn Club, Incorporated.
On June 20, 2008, LDC made our television debut by appearing on Fox Morning News, WTTG-TV, Channel 5 in Washington, D.C. with the Emmy-award winning reporter Holly Morris.
