Two or Three week Option:
May 6 - May 20
May 6 - May 27
Youssouf Koumbassa's 10th annual Dance and Drum Tour will offer you a unique opportunity to experience the rich culture and boundless spirit of Guinea, West Africa.
During your stay in Guinea, you'll enjoy dance and drum classes in a variety of settings, which cater to all levels of experience. Classes are offered twice daily, taught by Youssouf and members of Guinea's national ballet companies.
The group will spend four days and nights on Bel Air, Guinea's most beautiful beach, attend village dances (Doundounba's) in Conakry, and journey to Kindia to visit the colorful markets and the magestic Bridal Falls.
In addition to daily dance and drum classes, this unique cultural exchange will take you to several villages to share meals with local families and learn traditional music and dance firsthand.
Living with Youssouf's family in the village of Nongo, you can learn the preparation of African cuisine, traditional songs in the local Susu language, hair braiding techniques, and work with the local tailor to design clothing with your new fabric.
