Navigating the Corporate World...Empowering People with Disabilities to Succeed

Advocate, educator, and world traveler, Larry Littleton offers one-to-one, small, and large group motivational presentations in educational settings for people with disabilities, their nondisabled peers, teachers and families.

Larry has heard every reason why people with disabilities "can't succeed" in the corporate world. Yet, he is an excellent example of how determination and self-esteem contribute to achieving personal and professional goals.

Profoundly deaf since the age of seven, Littleton, with warmth and wit, is eager to share his experiences of climbing the corporate ladder with students of all ages. His audiences gain new insights that help them navigate through the corporate world.

Littleton worked for 18 years with Southern California Edison. Throughout his tenure, Larry confronted attitudes and issues that hindered his professional growth. To remove barriers, he created innovative strategies and solutions that opened doors for advancement, and a new career opportunity for people with disabilities in the public utility industry.

By 1988, Larry had become one of the top two customer service representatives in the nation. A year later, he proposed an innovative program that improved service delivery systems, after which a position in management evolved. The programs Larry implemented continue to benefit customers today.

Larry's honors include the 1990 Mainstream Milestone Award by the Los Angeles Jr. Chamber of Commerce, and recognition as Speaker of the Year by the Southern California Edison in 1992.

Currently, Larry serves on several committees including Co-Chair of the County of Kauai Mayor's Advisory Committee on Equal Access (MACFEA) the state of Hawaii Governor's Advisory Committee for the State Rehabilitation Council, and is a member of Kauai's CERT Team (Community Emergency Response Team)

Littleton has traveled to Guam, Thailand, New Zealand, and Australia as an internationally recognized consultant and speaker on deafness and hearing loss issues.

Larry's mission is simple yet powerful- to share his experiences with others so they, too, can succeed!

My Online Life

Larry surfs the internet on a daily basis. If not searching for information, he closely monitors legislators and bills in legislation.

"Keeping tabs on our elected officials is a responsibility we all share," says Littleton.

"Legislators need guidance from the people, and the people know what's best."
