Places of the heart

During my first visit to England in 1988, Historical writer Jeanne Montague took me to an out-of-the-way centuries old inn in a small village called Norton St. Philip. The George Inn,
from the moment I visited, drew me into it's history. Norton St. Philip, in Somerset County was one of the scenes of the failed attempt of James Crofts, (Jemmy) the illegitimate son of Charles II and Lucy Walters.
If you want to read a riveting historical fiction of that affair, I recommend Child From the Sea by Elizabeth Goudge.
Well, Jemmy's end came in a horrific bungled beheading at the Tower of London.
James II was chased out of England a few years later.
