Community     organized for the purpose of providing
         Grief      compassionate help, education and support
   Support:       for bereaved persons in  Jefferson & Shelby
                       counties.  Meets 1st & 3rd Wed., 10:00 a.m.

        Safe       full service domestic violence and sexual
     House:      assault agency providing various services
                      and counseling to affected familes.
                      Volunteers Needed: for transportation,
                      child care, answering crisis line, lawn care
                      and lawn maintenance.  664-5930

Salvation       provides emergency financial assistance with
      Army:       rent, utilities, prescriptions, food and
                      clothing.  Assist at Christmas with toys

  Special        therapeutic riding program for people with phy-
   Equest-       sical, mental or emotional disabilites - serving
      rians:       90 children and adults during the Spring &
                      Fall sessions.
                      Volunteers Needed:  leaders and side

    United        provides information and makes referrals to
   Way of        non-profit social service agencies who utilize
  Central         volunteers in their programs in the Greater
Alabama:       B'ham area (Shelby, Jefferson, Walker,
                      Blount, and St. Clair counties)
                      Volunteers Needed:  for over 200 organizations

 Shelby     works closely with the community to preserve
 County     and protect the public's health.  Services in-
 Health      clude WIC, family planning, immunization,
   Dept:      environment and case management.

Shelby      provides role models and family opportunities  
County      through its membership and programs which
 YMCA:      are available to everyone regardless of their
                 income level.
                 Volunteers Needed:   Youth  Sports Coaches,
                 referees, policy making volunteers, speakers,
                 swim team assistance and volunteers for

 Shelby     provides pastoral care and counseling to
 Baptist     patients and staff, as well as auxiliary personnel
Medical:    to aid the hospital staff.

                  shelving books, and assistance
