Why
NEDAA?

Why
Alumni Participation?
For many, The Fraternity or Sorority played an important, rewarding
part in their collegiate lives. But as you leave college behind you,
you must leave Active membership in the chapter behind as well. That’s
where alumni involvement comes in.
As you go on to new experiences in life, alumni participation is a logical
“next step” in your fraternal life. It allows you to continue
to play a meaningful role in the Fraternity or Sorority and to support
college bands in new ways.
This is an exciting time to become involved in alumni activities, because
the national alumni structure is still young and continually evolving.
We’re still exploring some of the ways alumni can help as a whole,
the active chapters, and college band programs - without diminishing
the undergraduates’ fraternal experience. It’s up to us
as alumni to be creative and innovative.
While all Alumni Associations are designed to be, among other things,
a supportive resource for the students, different kinds of associations
are forming to support different needs. There are chapter-based groups
which tailor their activities to fit their individual chapters. Other
associations center around a district or geographic area, and work to
benefit all of the chapters in their chosen area equally. And there’s
nothing to prevent membership in more than one association - you can
decide which group or groups you want to belong to based on each one’s
goals and activities.
The Northeast District Alumni Association (NEDAA) was officially formed
as the District IX Alumni Association of Kappa Kappa Psi in 1987, but
alumni have long been a part of the scene in the Northeast District.
Our name gives some the idea that all other alumni associations in the
district should be represented in our group the way all of the active
chapters have a voice in the district on the undergraduate level. That’s
not the case - the NEDAA is simply a very far reaching association,
with projects designed to benefit the entire Northeast District.
We welcome any Brothers and Sisters who have completed their education
or have terminated their undergraduate affiliation with their college
or university, and who wish to work to support the Northeast District
of Kappa Kappa Psi, Tau Beta Sigma, and National Alumni Association.
NEDAA
members are automatically members of the National Alumni Association.
We
would also like to encourage every alumni Brother and Sister to participate
in the Life Membership Program.
If you would like to know more about the NEDAA, please feel free to
contact any of the officers.
