Luger Sailboats on AOL - Projects Underway

This was the first picture Chuck Cogan sent to me.  He stated in an e-mail he'd been sailing his Leeward for 20 years and never knew of another Leeward owner until just recently.

I would be thinking the same thing, if I hadn't had the internet and started my Luger webpage.

I'm not sure if you can read the attached note Chuck sent within the photo...

"Note the space between the cross
member and the floor, allows water to flow under.  Approximately six inches on either side of the centerboard trunk, the crossmember meets up with the floor and extends well under the seat."

Chuck sent me this and the following two photos after I had asked him how he had finished his floor.

Chuck notes:
"The hole in the crossmember allows
water to flow forward and aft freely.
The added height of the crossmember also doubles as a barrier to keep equipment
under the cuddy where it belongs."

Chuck mentions:
"The rudder is not attached here, I just leaned it against the boat for scale.  It
actually hangs much lower, which is why I want to build a third one.  The wider section falls below the waterline and interferes with the flow from the stern."
