A Case of Plagiarism
Sadly, I find myself in the position of reporting an incident involving the plagiarism of one of my stories. When I contacted Texas Aries she denied copying the story, but immediately set out to cover her tracks by removing the story, and other posts referring to it, which she had posted to two different Lists in the Tour of Duty fandom. Before I go any farther, I do want to stress that I do not hold the owners and moderators of either of those lists in any way responsible for the actions of one member. They have taken action on their lists to handle the situation, and I appreciate their support.
I won't go into all the details. But, I will add that this was not the only incident of plagiarism she was caught at on the same list. She takes the stories, changes the fandom and then uses them almost verbatim. The parts that aren't verbatim are thinly veiled attempts at paraphrasing. To add support to my charge, I am adding a link to a web page designed to post the stories side by side so you can see and judge for yourself.
The sad part is, if she had only asked, I would have let her use the story for the other fandom. All I would have asked is that she included where she got it in the disclaimer.
Here is the link to the side by side posts. You be the judge.
Thank you,
Rhonda (Luna Dey)
