Winter Haven Lunker Lovers - Year-End Awards
1. Participation Requirements: To qualify for year-end a member must fish 50% or more of the tournaments and attend 50% or more of the club meetings or the member must fish 70% of the tournaments. For members who join after the club year begins, these percentages shall apply to only those meetings/tournaments subsequent to the date of membership. 2. A member whose job, business, health or other situation prevents him or her from meeting the participation requirements can petition for a waiver of these requirements for the Classic tournament and the year-end payback and awards. The member must present a written request for the waiver to the officers of the Club requesting the waiver and stating the circumstances which prevent meeting the participation requirements. This statement must be submitted before the member fishes his/her first tournament or the second club tournament of the club year, whichever is first. However, if the situation preventing the member from meeting the participation requirements arises after the deadline previously mentioned, the request must be presented to the officers before the member fishes the first tournament subsequent to this change. The officers shall investigate the claims in the request and make recommendation to the membership. The waiver will be granted on a majority vote of the membership at any club meeting. 3. The member who has the highest total weight (including participation pounds awarded) in the ten qualifying tournaments shall be designated as "Angler-of-the-Year." The member will receive an appropriate trophy and a cash award of $300. Participation requirements, above, must be met. 4. The member who catches the highest total number of fish in the ten qualifying tournaments shall be designated as "Mr. Bass" or "Ms. Bass," as appropriate. The member will receive an appropriate trophy and a cash award of $300. Participation requirements, above, must be met. 5. The member who catches the largest fish in the ten qualifying tournaments will receive the "Big Bass Award." The member will receive an appropriate trophy and the total of the money collected in the ten qualifying tournaments for the year-end big bass award. 6. Sponsorships for these awards will be solicited. However, funds from the Club treasury will be used if sponsorships are not obtained. 7. The member who has the highest total number of dead fish in the ten qualifying tournaments shall receive the "Dead Fish Award." 8. The "rookie" who has the highest total weight of all rookies (including participation pounds awarded) in the ten qualifying tournaments shall be designated as "Rookie-of-the-Year." For this award, a rookie will be defined as a member who has not fished with the Club in any previous Club year or a member who joined the Club after May in the immediately preceding Club year and who has not fished with the Club in any other previous year. Participation requirements, above, must be met. 9. The recipient of the annual "Jimmy Lynn, Sr. Sportsmanship Award" shall be selected by a secret ballot vote of the members of the Club. The recipient should be a member who has exhibited exceptional sportsmanship and support for the Club during the current Club year. Multiple votes for this award should be conducted at Club meetings with the total ballots from all votes tallied to determine the recipient. 10. At the end of the Club year, after all expenses for the current year have been paid and a reasonable amount has been reserved to begin the next Club year, the balance of the Club treasury will be paid to members meeting the participation requirements for year-end awards proportional to their weight in the year-end standings.
