About My Business
I am a Vietnam veteran having served with the 1st Aviation Brigade at Da Nang with the 11th Combat Air Group. For the last 5 years I have been traveling about Michigan with my LZ Arielle Vietnam Veterans' display and talk program about the Vietnam Conflict. This display has been to 10 Moving Walls and over 12 schools. The display has been seen by more than 300,000 of the public and students. The display consists of over 800 items with approximately 75% of the items coming from Vietnam. The display tells the story of the soldiers' journey from basic training through his or her time in-country to the problems back home. Included is a section on the war protest movement. A "hands on" display consists of all the equipment carried by the "grunts" including an M-16 and an M-60. All weapons and ammo on display are de-milled (made inoperative). My younger brother, who is a professional musician, adds music of the era. I have been told this is the most professional mobile display in the nation if not the only one. The display was meant to be viewed by an entire school system and to complement speaking engagements of area veterans.
The main goal of the display is the education of the public and students to what our soldiers went through in Vietnam. A second goal but equally as important is a healing of the veterans and the community.
