WWII Troop Ships
For those trying to nail down information about troop transport ships in the Pacific
during WWII, here is some information from my father's military records:
U.S.S. GENERAL HUGH L. SCOTT left San Diego, CA on May 2, 1944 and sailed to San
Francisco, CA, arriving May 4, 1944 and then sailed from there to Noumea, New Caledonia,
on May 21, 1944. (54th Replacement Battalion was on this ship - Lt. Col, USMC Commanding,
Ramon. M. Lopez signature on this info.)
Embarked aboard the SS MORMACHAWK at Noumea, New Caledonia on May 26, 1944 and sailed
on that date arriving at Guadalcanal, British Solomon Islands on May 29, 1944 and
disembarked the same day. (info. signed by Ramon M. Lopez, Lt. Col.,USMCR, Commanding)
1st Bn., 4th Mar., 6th Marine Division on March 14, 1945 embarked on board the APA
(129) U.S.S. MCINTYRE at Guadalcanal, B.S.I. and sailed the same day. On April 1,
1945 disembarked at Okinawa Island, Ryukyu Group and participated in action against
the enemy from April 1, 1945 to June 21, 1945. On July 7, 1945 embarked on board
U.S.S. DUPAGE and sailed July 8, 1945, arriving July 14 and disembarking at Guam,

1st Bn, 4th Marines, 6th Marine Division, August 15, 1945, embarked aboard the U.S.S.
LANIER and sailed from Guam, M.I. on the same day, arriving August 28, 1945, and
disembarking on August 30, 1945 and participated in occupation of Honshu, Japan.

Participate in the initial landing of the occupation forces of the Third Fleet Landing
Force, landing at Yokosuka Naval Base, and Yokosuka Air Station, Tokyo Bay, Japan
and participated in the security of that base from August 30, 1945 to December 31,

Fourth Marines, Fleet Marine Force, Pacific on December 29, 1945 embarked aboard
U.S.S. LUMEN at Yokosuka, Japan and sailed from there on January 1, 1946, arriving
