Internet Sword Collectors AssociationCollectors Alert! Correction! This was originally incorrectly listed on this page as a Mexican knife. The member who reported it has corrected me and stated that it was marked "India". In any case it is modern and is not known to be a naval dirk. A Indian knife has been coming up in the online auctions that resembles a 1800's period Naval dirk. At first glance it fooled me. I asked around and a fellow collecter has seen several up close, and states that some are marked "India". They have a curved blade with a false edge The mounts are brass. They have an eaglehead pommel, a simple crossguard with two acorn quillons, and a smooth bone grip. The pommel is attached with a capstan nut. Note that the chain is a modern style. The scabbard is leather and brass. These knives are modern and are not Naval dirks.
