Please let me assist you with your training needs! I can offer you a fresh prespective, modern ideas, effective training methods and proven teaching techinques!
My name is Chris Madsen and I have been involved with dogs all my life. I grew up around our family dogs and raised my first German Shepherd Dog when I was 16 years old.
I have been a Police Dog Handler for 19 years now and I have been training Police Dogs for over 15 years. I have been involved in the establishment and training of over 20 Police Canine Units and 200 dogs in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. I have worked with tracking, patrol, and detection dogs (both explosive and drug). I have gained a reputation as an expert trainer in developing proficient canine/handler teams. Currently, I am the Canine Sergeant for my police department near San Francisco, California and the President of the California Police Service Dog Association.
In 1991, my service dog "Dax" was the winner of the U.S.A.'s International Police Dog Championship in Manassass, Virginia. In 2000, my service dog "Racker" and I finished 20th (out of 60 entries) at the Internationale Poliseimeisterschaft für Diensthundführer (WPO Championship) in Hannover, Germany. We were the high scoring U.S.A. team.
I am a California P.O.S.T. certified Canine Handler Team Evaluator, and I have judged at local and California State level police dog competitons.
I have testified in Superior Court as an expert in the area of police dogs and police dog handling.
I have taught P.O.S.T. advanced officer courses in police dog handling and training.
The more you learn, the more you realize there is to learn. I have visited and trained at several police dog schools in Germany and I have attended seminars across the United States. The learning process never ends, and you might see me at a police dog or working dog seminar near you! I am always trying to expand my knowledge base and number of worldwide contacts.
