Winter Project

This winter, we've taken on an entirely new challenge -- Basement Finishing.  While it is a "phase project" in every sense of the word, certainly without a deadline, we are enjoying the planning, the time, and the leisurely pace of adding more living space to our home.

(Okay, who am I kidding?  For those of you that know me, you know that I would like the basement finished sometime yesterday morning …. Jeff, on the other hand, would be happy if we put the finishing touches on it sometime in our 50's.  LOL.)

In any case, construction is underway and we couldn't be more pleased with the results.  I have mastered the art of taping drywall, and Jeff has mastered the art of somehow dealing with an intense wife.  Here is one idea that I have come up with so that our basement won't look like well … um … ah … just another basement.  Hee heee.

Between the family room, the mock-Florida room, and the game room, we have built glass block wall dividers (each approximately 6' in width).  This allows natural light received from the basement windows to travel throughout all of the rooms in the basement.  (It looks pretty cool, too.)
