What is Spiritual Direction? Contrary to what the name implies, a Spiritual Director does not direct the life of another. Rather he/she offers a prayerful presence and attentive heart to listen and hear the story of another. Carl Jung, the great German psychiatrist, once remarked that everyone longs to tell his or her story to someone and have it understood and accepted. Author Thomas Hart explains, "The purpose of Spiritual Direction will be to sensitize people further to the presence and action of God in their lives, and to assist them to make a fuller and more appropriate response to it.
The objectives are that simple: awareness and response. What endows the spiritual direction relationship with its peculiar stamp is that the context of the whole endeavor is faith, and that its ultimate concern is awareness and response to God in one's life.

About Our Facilities
Located just outside Shillington, PA, Mariawald Renewal Center has16 rooms accommodating up to 48 people. Each room has a private bath and air conditioning. The Center has a large conference room, lounge area and two smaller meeting rooms. Kitchenette and laundry facilities are available on each floor. The library and Blessed Sacrament Chapel are located on the second floor. Meals are served in the dining room of the Main House - about 500 feet away from the Center. All of this is located on the spacious grounds of Precious Blood Convent in the beauty of God's natural setting.
