SCL2000

UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST INDIES

MONA, JAMAICA

AUGUST 16 - 19, 2000

CIRCULAR # 2

I. EXTENSION OF DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF ABSTRACTS

The deadline for the receipt of abstracts for papers to be presented at the SCL2000 conference has been extended to February 29, 2000. The Society will therefore continue to receive abstracts for papers from members and colleagues on any subject relevant to Caribbean linguistics. The theme of the conference is "Caribbean Linguistics: Past, Present and Future". Contributions are particularly invited for the Colloquium 2000, a special opening day feature which will focus on Applied Linguistics, Language Teaching and Language Policy in the Caribbean.

Abstracts of papers being proposed should be submitted in the following format:

1. At the top of the page include, name, mailing address, email address, fax and telephone number. Put the title of the paper immediately below followed by the text of the abstract.

2. Abstracts should be single spaced and no longer than one page.

3. Send three copies of abstract by regular mail or by courier to:

The Society for Caribbean Linguistics
c/o Department of Language, Linguistics and Philosophy
University of the West Indies
Mona, Kingston 7
Jamaica, West Indies

N.B. Abstracts sent by email or facsimile cannot be accepted.

4. The deadline for the receipt of full text versions of papers to be presented is 30th April, 2000. Full text versions should take the form of:

i. a letter quality hard copy, single spaced, printed on one side of the paper only; and

ii. a computer diskette version in Microsoft Word version 6 or any more recent version.

Please note that because of the time needed to prepare a full volume of pre-printed papers for every participant, the organisers will NOT find it possible to accommodate presentations for which full text versions have not been received by the deadline.
