A little bit about Michael Waltrip:

Mike spent many years in Busch and still races a couple races a year in that series. While in Busch he raced for many teams and then decided to make the jump to Winston Cup racing where his older brother Darrell was already a star. Michael raced for some of the greatest teams in motorsports like the Wood Brothers, Bud Moore and many others. He has been in accidents where his car has ripped apart around him and he has flipped cars over. Then Michael got his best shot at a good season when he was added to Dale Earnhardt Inc.. He would be teamed with two drivers who where already proven winners Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Steve Park. Michael was given a brand new team which was the #15 Napa Auto Parts Monte Carlo. Michael went out and in his first race he won the Daytona 500. Hopefully this is the beginning and not the end of his winning. He went the rest of 2001 working the bugs out of his new team. He did post two second place finishes, one in the second Daytona race and at the Homestead race at the end of the season. The 2002 season was Mike's best in Winston Cup. He picked up his second victory in the July Daytona race and finished 14th in points. Well 2005 wasn't the banner year that Michael was hoping for there were some bright spots. The two second place finsihes during the year and the pole at Pocono which secured him a spot in the 2006 Bud Shootout. At the end of the year Mikey left DEI and signed on with Bill Davis Racing. It will be the first time Mike will drive a Dodge in Nextel Cup. The car number will also change from 15 to 55. Sponsordhip will not change as just about everybody came over wtih Mike to BDR. Hopefully 2006 will bring a great renewal to Mike's career.
