Don't Forget Afghanistan Again
There is great concern among those who care about Afghanistan that the country and her people will again be forgotten and overlooked by the outside world. Despite the many promises of help made after the US incursion, very little assistance has actually been delivered.

Countries around the world guaranteed funds to help rebuild the infrastructure of the country and the shattered lives of the people. Sadly, many countries have failed to give even a percentage of what they had promised, and others have given only a small fraction.
"Americans are helping the people of Afghanistan in their time of hardship and need, and we will continue to do so. The United States has committed more than $700 million in aid to Afghanistan for food, and seeds and roads and bridges, water and sanitation systems. I was most proud of the fact that American children from all walks of life contributed to the America's Fund for Afghan Children. It was such a strong statement, of children uniting to help people in need."

Remarks By President George W. Bush at the Embassy of Afghanistan
Washington, D.C.
If you are concerned about the fate and future of Afghanistan and would like to guarantee that the promises made are promises kept, I would urge you to contact the officials of your country and tell them that you fully expect that they will honor their words and pledges to the Afghan people. Perhaps if enough governments around the world are not only reminded of their responsibilites but are also reminded that their own citizens are watching and are concerned, the help that was promised to the Afghan people will become a reality. It will be a crime against all humanity if Afghanistan is forgotten -- again.
