About First Step Basketball Camp
There are many leauges, camps, and clinics out there for kids these days that just are not what the parents are looking for. They are have expressed some much effort into winning that the leaders are even willing to compromise their values in order to achieve victory. At First Step Basketball Camp we wish to offer the parents and kids an alternative where values will not be compromised, but instead established. We will provide an environment to the kids that will help them to succeed in their athletic accomplishments and dreams. The basic fundamentals of basketball will be taught to the all campers and practical drills will be given out so they can improve on their fundamentals.

News and Notes

April 10, 02: Bob Richey will be the Camp Director for the 2002 camps. Richey is the Point Guard for the Francis Marion Patriots. A Florence native, he played his high school basketball at Florence Christian High School. There he won a State Championship and was announced SCISA's Most Valuable Player in the State of South Carolina. He left there setting seven school records including scoring 45 points in one game. He directed Camp Upward last year for First Baptist Church in which he almost tripled the camper turnout from the summer before from 33 to 91. He is committed to teaching the campers the fundamentals of shooting, passing, dribbling and defense in a way that is enjoyable to the kids.

May 12, 02: Camp Director Bob Richey has pulled together most of his staff for the summer camps. So far it included four coaches from last years staff and one new coach. Lance Evans and Jay Waring will be back with the camp this year as coaches. John Richey (Bob Richey's little brother) and Brandon Miles will return as assistants.
