A Short BioI'm a 48 yr. old, full time musician based out of the Ft. Worth/Dallas area. I'm a Lead Singer/Frontman that also plays Frottior or Zydeco Rubboard. I sing Blues, Western Swing, Cajun/Zydeco/Swamp Pop, Jump, Rockabilly, Rhythm & Blues. In other words, "Texas Music", Roots Rock or Americana style. Basically the type of roadhouse music they've been playin' in Jukejoints, HouseParty's & Fishfry's here in Texas for a hundred years...I've won the Ft. Worth Weekly Music Awards Best of the Blues in 2003 and 2004. Also in '04 My 1st solo recording, the James Hinkle produced "Gave Myself The Blues" was selected by the Grammy's for consideration as Best Traditional Blue Album, on a list that included Kim Wilson, Eddie Clearwater and winner Buddy Guy....I've played with James Hinkle, Robert Ealey, Kenny Traylor, Holland K. Smith, Edd Lively, Hash Brown, U.P. Wilson, Terry Rasor, Bodie Powell, Paul Byrd, J.B.Wynn, Gutherie Kennard, Fat Boys In The Round, Jordan Mycoskie & Kurt South...I have recorded with J. Hinkle, T.Rasor, U.P. Wilson, P.Byrd, E.O.Lively, Robin Syler, Randy McAllister, "Dirt" Stennett, Terry Rasor, B.Powell, Sherwin Phillips & w/Bobby Counts on the "Christmastime In Cowtown Vol.II"...I've opened shows for everyone from Alabama & Clint Black to Rick Derringer & Night Ranger to Alseep At The Wheel & The Fabulous T-Birds to B.B. King & Dr. John...A few of my bands have been: The James Hinkle-Johnny Mack Band, The Experimystics w/Ponty Bone & James Hinkle, Slim Bigguns w/ Eddie Dean Smith, J.M. & The Cartel, The Mojo Cowboys, The Pesky Havalinas, J.M. & The Jaded Lovers, J.M. & The Bon Ton Playboys, Cadillac Death Cult, The Zydeco Angels, and Lash Lovetoy & The New Bondage Wranglers...I'm also am a freelance writer for some local & regional music & entertainment magazines. My whole world revolves around music....That said; I'm happily divorced, with a wonderful 22 yr. old daughter, Katie, who's going to college up in Kansas. She's not only smart and beautiful, but also hilarious and very hip to be around. She is My pride & joy. J.M.

Musicians That Have Influenced MeI learned more about music and the music business from my friend/producer/ramrod/pardner, James Hinkle. My "spiritual guide", Edd Lively. My long time friend & bandmate, the late Jim "Stoney" Bass. And so many of the great musicians in Ft. Worth, all around Texas & Kansas...Delbert McClinton, Bob Wills, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Doug Sahm, Augie Meyers, Billy Wade Sanders, B.B. King, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Fritz Davis,(He taught me how Blues & Country ain't that far apart.), Joe Ely, Ponty Bone, Robert Ealey(The Godfather of Ft. Worth Blues), Mike Finnigan & Jerry Woods,(Crazed Hipsters I grew up listening to in Kansas, who MADE me wanna sing & write songs.),Clifton & Cleaveland Chenier, Slim Harpo, Pat McJimsey,(another great player & singer from Wichita that kinda set the bar for us younger musicians), Merle Travis & Merle Haggard, The Blasters, Guy Clark, Steven Fromholtz, Kim Wilson, Billy Joe Shaver, Rodney Crowell, Drake Macy(Jr. & Sen.), Eddie Macy, Terry Allen, John Hiatt, Junior Watson, Tommy Alverson, Magic Slim, Tabby Thomas, Ray Benson, Professor Longhair, Willie Nelson, Jimmy Reed, Jimmy Rodgers & his songwiting partner, my great aunt Elsie McWilliams, & finally, The Four Hanks: Senior, Thompson, Snow, and now Hank III.
