Created in Your image, O Lord, I want to have a close relationship with You.  I want to fellowship and worship You.  But, I am overcome with sins, overwhelmed with problems.  Restore my heart, mind and soul, O Lord.  I want to walk closer with You.  Help me to serve You and only You.

Oh Jesus, I am calling upon You to plead my case before our Father.  I have not been a very good sister of Christ.  I beg Your forgiveness.  I pray that You will help me to strive to be more and more like You everyday.  Though I stumble and fall, help me to know You are with me every step of the way.  Gently leading, guiding, disciplining and loving as only You can do.

My Heavenly Father, You are a loving and merciful God.  You are quick to forgive and slow to anger.  I am nothing without You, Lord.  Everywhere I look I see Your mighty hand at work.  O, gracious God, I want to live in Your Presence.  I want Your Holy Spirit to fill me with Your Glory.

I need You, Jesus.  I want to live my life for You - thinking of You night and day.  Help me to know Your will for me.  Help me, my Precious Savior, to do Your will not only in the future, but also right now.  Help me to seek You out in making decisions and in living my life the way You want me to.

I cry out to You, O Lord.  As Your Holy Word says, "You Rescue".  Lord, I pray for my nation's leaders.  Please, Mighty God, help the President, Vice President, Military Leaders, Congress, Senate and State Representatives, when making decisions for this country I live in.  Please help them to seek out Your wisdom and guidance when making decisions for the United States of America.  Dear Lord, please don't let our nation's leaders take You away from us...the American people.

Heavenly Father, I know we live in a demoralized society.  We live in a "Soddom and Gemorrah" world.  Yes, Lord, there are Americans who have turned their away from You, who have rejected You.  There are so many Americans who have forgotten You are the reason this nation was founded.  Without You, O Great One, we as a nation would not exist.  You have delivered us over and over just as You did Your people, the Israelites in the desert and in the Promised Land.  Lord, as I study Your Word in the Old Testament I certainly see the similarities between the Israelites and Americans.  Lord, we are a stubborn people.  I ask You to have mercy on us and to not forsake us. Remember in Your heart, dear Lord, the ones of us who strive to know You and to follow Your ways.  There are those of us who seek Your glory, Lord.  You alone are our God and we know You sent Your Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins.  We know that Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for us sinful people.  Your love, O God, is unfailing.  You never change, Lord. I ask that You forgive us for the fall of our society's values, including my own.

O Lord my God, I know You hear my prayers.  I worship and praise You, Lord.  I submit to Your will.  Lord, I am saddened by my nation.  I am also so confused.  I am torn by loyalty to my fellow military service members.  I  know the hardships they are facing right now.  They are following orders of our nation's leaders - right or wrong.  They are in Iraq...a country that hates them...a country that does not appreciate what we are trying to do for them.  These men and women who are valigantly giving their lives every day, fighting for Americans' rights and freedoms.  They are fighting a war without most of their nation's support.  In a way, Lord, the American people are acting just like they did when we were sent in to Vietnam. And, being prior military, I can imagine what these young troops, sailors, soldiers and airmen feel when they are rejected by their own people.  O Mighty One, I ask that You bless these men and women who are just following their nations leaders' orders.

Lord, I ask that You bless our military in Iraq and all over the world in the same way You instructed Aaron and his sons to bless the people of Israel:
May the Lord bless you
and protect you.
May the Lord smile on you
and be gracious to you.
May the Lord show you His favor
and give you His peace.
Lord, I ask that You help these defenders of the United States to know that not all of their fellow country men and women are against them...there are still some of us who support our military  men and women and want them to come home safely.

Lord, I trust our elected officials of this great nation know what they are doing. I trust they will make the right decisions for the American people.  I have faith in You, Heavenly Father.  I know You will lead, guide and discipline this great nation I live in with unconditional love, glory and mercy, so we can be "One Nation Under God".

My Precious Redeemer, my heart goes out to the young man's family that was beheaded in Iraq. I ask that You shower them with Your love and grace.  I ask, Heavenly Father, that they don't harden their hearts towards You, our nation's leaders and also, towards our military.  I pray that this tragedy will lead them to You, Heavenly Father, and to Your purposes.

My last prayer request goes out to our media, whether it be via radio, television and/or written press.  Sovereign God, You are my King.  All of my faith, trust, hope and belief in in You.  Unfortunately, Lord, people in general believe what the media tells them.  In a way, the media has brainwashed some Americans, especially our younger generation.  They have the power to sway people into being for or against this nation's political actions. And, Lord, they usually only report one side of a story.  I ask You, Father, to help our media to report the news fairly and accurately without bias.  I ask that instead of reporting against our nation's leaders and military that they back us as a nation so we can stand united.

Lord, You are watching over this nation.  You are our mighty Protector and Defender.  With  You over our nation we are indestructible.  But, just as the Israelites rebelled against You, so has America.  My prayer is that we remember all you have done for us.  I ask that justice is served to our enemies swiftly and mercifully.

I ask these things in Christ Jesus' name.  Amen.  Thank You, Lord, for hearing my prayer.
