Introduction to Book Two

Oodles and Oodles of Thanks:

This whole story owes its existence to Susan, who has spent the better part of a college career fostering me and it along.  Susan has put up with my writer's block and my tantrums; she had the painful task of advising me when most of the first 60 pages had to be thrown out; and, she has at times argued with me sentence by sentence and paragraph by paragraph in order to make this story what it is today.  Susan is THE BEST.

Thanks to Keiko for the nifty new title graphic.  That's been my desktop wallpaper for a good long while. :-)

Finally, thanks to the gamma readers on this story: PJ in NH, Tara L., and Carrie.  Ladies, you have all had an influence on this story, and I thank you very much for your input.

 

Story Notes (in no particular order):

1. Please see the associated Bibliography if you're interested in seeing all the exciting books consulted during the writing of this story.
2. In case you're wondering, I set the Voyager elements of this story at the beginning of the episode Vis a Vis.  Spoilers for that episode are really, really vague.  
3. The Universal Translator. It doesn't exist yet. I do not speak French. This story is riddled with French. (Mainly at the beginning of sentences. Mainly unimportant, or easily recognized by most people.) I've tried to use the French correctly, consulting dictionaries, non-native French speakers, and an online translation program. If you think there is something egregiously wrong with my French, please tell me. 
4. This one is VERY important. Bobby is not Tom, and Brigitte is not B'Elanna. I developed Bobby and Brigitte as separate characters, and so, if you do not like my characterizations because you think I've messed with Tom and B'Elanna, please do not flame me. I meant for them to be different in some ways.
