Keeshond Club of Kentuckiana

As you can see we have a new name -- Keeshond Club of Kentuckiana!  We are checking to be sure AKC will allow this name when the time comes to gain AKC acceptance.

At our first official meeting 3/16/2002, the proposed constitution was reviewed and revised.  As soon as the changes are complete I will publish it here.  We also elected a slate of officers.  I must admit I had to miss the meeting (had to make an agility run) so I'm not sure of all the details.  When I receive the meeting minutes I will post them along with the list of our new officers.  I do know they didn't make me president in my absence (whew) but I am retaining the office of Corresponding Secretary - so you are stuck with me and my web page!

Congratulations to those who won in Louisville!   It was an amazing Keeshond entry!   Saturday there were 40 Kees entered in conformation and 38 present, 6 entered and 5 present for Agility and 1 entered and present in Obedience.  From what I've seen no one dog was entered in more than 1 type of competition so a total of 44 Kees were present on Saturday!    I won't list all the winners here but conformation and obedience results can be found at http://www.onofrio.com/cgi-bin/db2www/tl/tl?.  Agility, when it's available can be found at http://www.akc.org/dic/events/search/index.cfm?action=results. - you'll have to use the search feature to find the right Competition Type, State, and Time range.

By way of gossip our girl Ch Ashwood's Snow Catcher for Santa (Icee) - presented us with our first litter 3/20/02 consisting of one whopping 14oz. girl.  (Tracer (BIS AM/Can Ch Cara Absolute Proof E'Sprit HOF is the proud father).  Mom and baby are doing well.

Debbie and Lance Hibberd of KeePlay Kees announced the arrival of five "little ones" 3/25-26/02.  Dad is Ch KeePlay's Back in the Race (Gordie) - mom is Ashwood's FirstLady at KeePlay (Abigail).  The two boys weighed in at 13 and 12 oz each and the three girls at 13, 12, and 12 oz!   Must be something in that Kentucky River water making them all so big!

Good luck to all of you going to the Keeshond National Speciality in MD in April.  It's not too late to contribute to the Kentuckiana basket for the auction.  I'm transporting what I have to Hibberds since we've decided for a variety of reasons that we're not to attend this year.  So if you want to contribute contact me at santakees@aol.com or Debbie and Lance at keepry@rocketmail.com. For more information on the National see the Capitol Keeshond Club link at the top right hand corner of the page.

Please send your brags and gossip to santakees@aol.com so we can keep up with what's going on with our fellow club members.

That's all I have for now until the membership list is processed and minutes written up! Welcome to all who joined as charter members. If you are not a member and would like to join there is a link below this for a membership application.  I think we are in for an exciting year with our dogs and our new club.
