Journey

It was suggested that I say something about my art, particularly that it is not computer generated. I use acrylics and teeny weeny brushes. I just start somewhere, in pencil, and see where it takes me. The designs evolve on their own. The colors seem to choose themselves. And the designs sometimes change drastically as I paint. (There are actually two - Lokahi and Spiritseed - that started out with exactly the same pencil design and turned out totally different!) Then I keep working them till all the lines and the smallest parts are as clean and as balanced as I can make them. (Well, I used to be a dancer - I guess that "dancer's mentality" hangs around!) I began doing this as a way for me to have an adventure when I was laid up for a long time and couldn't walk. Most of these designs have gone through a very messy period, and it was really tempting just to start over. But, by that time, I had put in so much time and energy that I just couldn't give up on them. I think the designs that have turned out to be the most interesting are those that, at one time, had the most and the worst "myst-takes." Each design is the representation of a journey of discovery, where what seems "wrong" turns out to be right - and you know that something wonderful is just around the corner! (Note: The blotchiness and "dots" that sometimes appear are only online, not on the pictures themselves.)
