While Chasin was away, I found a beutiful Marquis Diamond that I knew Chasin would love. I had it set in a traditional band and would let her pick out the setting when she returned. On July 1, 1999, Chasin arrived at the San Antonio International Airport. It was a long ride back to Austin, so I hired a limousine, the largest Stretch Towncar available. I stocked with Champagne and a light lunch.
After meeting her at the gate, we made our way to the baggege claim to pick up her luggage. She had four large suitcases and wanted to get a cart. I told her I found a great parking spot just outside and would carry them out for her. We walked outside and Chad, the limo driver, took the bags. Chasin's eyes lit up as the blonde 6 foot driver, dressed in a black silk shirt, mirror sun glases and sporting a 1 karat diamond earring placed the bags in the trunk of the limo.
As we drove to Austin, I poured her a glass of champagne and knelt down in front of her. I pulled the ring from my pocket and asked her if she would marry me. She said yes. We enjoyed the trip back to Austin and spent the next two days together. She later picked out a beutiful 18 karat gold setting for her diamond. It was beautiful. Surrounding the Marquis would be over a karat of princess cut diamonds in an invisible setting. The ring would have to be custom made in New York, so it would be several weeks before it was complete. She would wear the Marquis on a standard band until the ring was ready.
The next three weeks were great. We searched for a new home to begin our life together. We also thought about where to hold a wedding. We agreed to fulfill her childhood dream and marry on a beach in the Bahamas. Life was so wonderful.
