Score View and Control Bar Description
Screen 2: Score View and Control Bar at 640x480 resolution MidiView's Score View window shows the music in a piano roll style. Each colored bar indicates the start and end times of a note. Depending on the 'Color by' setting in Channel Options, the note colors denote the Channel, Program, Track, Note, or Volume. The vertical dimension indicates the pitch of each note, relative to the keyboard on the left side and the staff lines. The Time Cursor (an arrow from top to bottom of the window) tracks the present playing positions and the Score View scrolls automatically through the music to keep the Time Cursor in view. Bar (measure) numbers are listed along the top of the window and times in milliseconds are listed along the bottom. The Control Bar below the Score View is your control center. Click the [Play/Stop] button to start or stop the music or click the [<-] or [+>] buttons on either side to step backward or forward one note at a time. The present Tempo is indicated on the left side, and you can change the tempo by entering a value in the % editbox. The mSec editbox shows the time at the Time Cursor, in milliseconds. The next editbox (with horizontal scroll buttons to its right) lets you compress or expand the time scale. You can also control the pitch range (number of keys) of the Score View, using the editbox and vertical scroll buttons on the right edge. You can choose whether to show or hide the Score View, Control Bar, or Channel Options. For information about the Channel Options dialog box, which is not shown here, see Screen 1: MidiView Screen Description (21k GIF).
