Born in February 1965 in Automba, Minnesota.

Arrived at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas on July 22, 1967.
Accepted for Service as a scout dog on July 25, 1967.
Assigned to the Scout Dog Training Detachment at Fort Benning, Georgia on October 1, 1967.
Assigned to PFC Robert B. Shafer, of Flint Creek, Oklahoma, at Fort Benning and trained as part of the 58th Infantry Platoon (Scout Dog).
Arrived in the Republic of South Vietnam, via a C130-Hercules aircraft, with Shafer, six other scout dog teams, a jeep and a 2 1/2 ton truck, landing at Tan Son Nhut Air Force Base in the middle of a ground attack, during Tet 1968. The 58th Infantry Platoon (Scout Dog) actually arrived in increments of one squad per week, while it's official entry in South Vietnam as a complete unit is listed as February 20, 1968.
Actually worked off-leash by PFC Shaffer because of his tendency to walk through trip wires.
Wounded by shrapnel while guarding a bridge near Phung Vinh in III Corps, and required stitches. Phuoc Vinh was the base camp for the 3rd Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile) and was also home for the 58th Infantry Platoon (Scout Dog). Phuoc Vinh was about 30 miles NNE of Saigon.
Separated from his handler, when PFC Shafer was wounded in the legs while on operations near Cu Chi, in July or August 1968. Rebel was not wounded as he was working off-leash and was not near Shaffer at the time.
Assigned at Phuoc Vinh to replacement scount dog handler, PFC Robert A. Kollar, of Dubuque, Iowa, on Friday, September 13, 1968.
Transferred with the 58h IPSD, from Camp Rodriguez to Camp Evans in I Corps on November 1, 1968. Camp Evans wsas the new base camp for the 3rd Brigade.
Assigned to Sp/4 Leroy Boyce, of the Virgin Islands, in May 1969 when Sgt. Robert A. Kollar was taken off active handler duty.
Died of heat stroke at Camp Evans on 6 September 1969.
