Boston, Massachusetts, USA POLDERLAND Language & Speech Technology of The Netherlands and Mason Integrated Technologies Ltd (MIT2) announce the formation of a strategic partnership to advance the development of proofing tools, such as spell checkers, for minority languages. Polderland, an independent commercial company specializing in language technologies, has successfully developed such products as spell checkers for Dutch, Frisian, Afrikaans and Papiamentu that have been integrated into Microsoft Word; as well as a hyphenator for Afrikaans; text-to-speech generation systems for weather reports and sports results; e-mail pre-processing (EMPP) for text-to-speech systems; automatic language recognition (ALR) and SmartMatch search tools; bilingual and monolingual dictionaries; etc. They currently provide enterprise-based solutions. MIT2, known for its range of language technology productivity tools (CreoleNewSpell, CreoleScan, CreoleTranslate, etc.) that are part of the Creole Tool Suite(tm), provides written language stabilization solutions and productivity tools for processing texts in Creole and for other minority and vernacular languages. MIT2 President Marilyn Mason states "MIT2 is pleased to collaborate with companies that have specifically focused on the development and use of language technologies which promote less-prevalent and minority languages. Although most companies focus on the world's major international languages, only a handful of small companies are now focusing on a variety of less-prevalent languages.
