SUSAN WARD CHAT TRANSCRIPT
Tiggie_Evans asks: What do you think about the whole Derek/Ben storyline?
SUSAN WARD: Well, I think it's a great storyline. I think it's really funny... the way things are working out and Meg has no idea. I think she's being a little naive to the fact that her fiance has no clue about what's going on in their lives and she has to fill in the blanks....
Uffdabuttons asks: Ms. Ward........didn't you notice there was a difference in Ben? Like wanting to get into Ben's finances all the time?
SUSAN WARD: I didn't really notice because Ben is very much a business man. I did question the fact that he asked me the password, but we had never discussed financial matters before. I just figured we were getting married and he wanted to get things in line... so I didn't question it really too much.
Sweetie_1997_98 asks: Susan, where are you originally from?
SUSAN WARD: Monroe, Louisiana
Stu8360 asks: Do you have any acting role models?
SUSAN WARD: Jessica Lange.
Bzaney asks: As a Sunset Beach fan, what can I do to support the show and help the ratings to go up?
SUSAN WARD: Number one you can join the fan club and write to the network and to our producers and tell them how much you enjoy the show. It helps us out a lot because it shows the network how the public feels about the show and how they support it and us. Usually they only see the ratings. They don't really know how the public feels.
Bzaney asks: Is Sara supposed to be a younger or older sister and are you two close?
SUSAN WARD: I think originally she was meant to be my younger sister, but they've turned the role around and she's older. I think they were close, but there's the jealousy factor... Sarah thinks that Meg got all the boys and the attention, but it wasn't true. Meg didn't see it that way, but I think they are close sisters.. I mean it's a close family.
TheJavaWeb asks: How do you like working with Clive Robertson [Ben/Derek]?
SUSAN WARD: It's a new experience everyday with playing the dual role. He's been great. He's handled the work wonderfully. He's been great. He's professional and easy to work with.
TheJavaWeb asks: Do you miss working with Nick Stabile [ex-Mark]?
SUSAN WARD: I really miss working with Nick. He was a great actor and we really connected when we worked together. I think it's a shame that he was killed... but he's doing really well, he's got a movie deal. I wish him the best, but I definitely miss the dynamic that we had.
BabyC8 asks: Did you like the terror island Episodes?
SUSAN WARD: I really enjoyed the episodes. I don't get a chance to watch the episodes everyday, but we can check out the episodes at work, and I made a point to do that. I enjoyed them... Some of the scenes I wasn't in, I didn't know what was going to happen, so I watched them with my boyfriend. It was a lot of fun.
Longfellow_69 asks: I love your show....and I think you are so beautiful...anyway, do you see yourself going into movie acting now or do you just want to stick with soaps?
SUSAN WARD: I definitely do want to get into film because I think it is such a wide variety of different characters and avenues, whereas on soap operas you have one character you play and it's consistent. I think with films and the different characters it would expand my acting capabilities.
ALWheaties asks: Susan, you were GREAT as Psyche on Hercules, How was it working on the show!?!
SUSAN WARD: Hercules was great! It's set in New Zealand, I flew there for 3 weeks. The cast and crew were phenomenal people... they welcomed me with open arms.. I hope to go back... until then I'll think about it a lot. I still talk to the cast and crew. It was great to be there.
Stefan2Sweet asks: When will Meg catch on to Derek?
SUSAN WARD: I think it will take a while. Ben's still in the torture chamber and Derek's still disguising himself... so I think it will be a couple of months.
Dallas_Dee asks: Will Meg make love to Derek?
SUSAN WARD: You'll just have to wait and see. I know there are many attempts... but if anything does happen it will be very interesting and very intriguing.
Tiggie_Evans asks: Is it funnier working with Clive as Derek or as Ben?
SUSAN WARD: It's much funnier working with him as Derek and he changes his voice a little. I'm the only one who noticed it in the beginning. He's a lot more laid back as Derek because I think with that character you can have more fun
Longfellow_69 asks: Are you married?
SUSAN WARD: No, but I live with my boyfriend.
TheJavaWeb asks: Susan, is anything going to happen between Meg and Casey [Tim Adams]?
SUSAN WARD: I'm not really sure at this point. I think they have such a great friendship that they may stay as friends. My sister's coming to town so that may drive a stake into anything... but as of now I don't know of anything.
JustineCase__ asks: I never knew that Meg had a sister. What type of character will Sara be?....Good or Evil?
SUSAN WARD: I think that she's a nice girl who has a little bit of a bad edge to her. She's more the rebellious sister from Kansas who doesn't really know how to achieve being the big socialite popularity queen, but I think she'll be a pretty nice girl.
NotRoebuck asks: VENICE and the wedding. Do you all think you can get the producers to let you go???
SUSAN WARD: I think that's a little bit of a stretch... maybe we'll get married on the beach by the pier, but who knows, though.
Cold_stunner_x asks: When is Ben going to be freed?
SUSAN WARD: Not for quite a long time I'm afraid. I'm looking forward to the day he's free
Tiggie_Evans asks: What cast member is the most fun to work with?
SUSAN WARD: I think Sarah Buxton [Annie] because we work really well together and we laugh through our scenes. Another one is Tim Adams [Casey]! We are brother and sister, screaming at each other, trying to make the other mess up during our scenes... it's hilarious!
TheJavaWeb asks: Susan, I think you are a great actress, I love your character, you're doing a great job.
SUSAN WARD: Thank you! I appreciate that :)
Aremid asks: Meg is a great character. Are you like Meg in real life?
SUSAN WARD: No. Meg is much too naive for me. She's a goody goody girl and I'm a pretty sweet girl, but I'm not that sweet. I like to go out and party and have a good time with my friends. I'm not as domesticated as Meg.
Spunky_Cat asks: Do you wish Meg wasn't so naive sometimes, Ms. Ward?
SUSAN WARD: Definitely. I get a lot of fan mail telling me what to do. I don't think she's simple she just puts so much trust in everyone. She gives them 110% in the beginning and wants to believe the best in people and not see them as critical mean or harsh. She's basically a sweet person.
Kirby_a asks: Do you explore the internet to see what your fans think of you?
SUSAN WARD: Yeah, I do sometimes. I've gone online twice. Someone mailed me a website where someone put pictures up of me. It's cool that someone would do that and do all that work. It's nice it's really invigorating that people think so much of you to do that.
SRT3 asks: Susan what do you like to do in your spare time
SUSAN WARD: I like to read and hang out with my boyfriend Joe and lay out in the sun-- my favorite thing in the world to do! Get a tan. I like to go hiking. This weekend I went to the renaissance festival ... see the medieval sets and the turkey legs everywhere. It was a lot of fun, it was cool.
Stu8360 asks: Any advice for a young actor like myself?
SUSAN WARD: To be patient and to study as much as you can. Go to as many acting classes, and read as many plays and books as you can. You have to be persistent -- because this business has a lot of negativity -- and believe in yourself.
Pen_will asks: Hi, Susan. How do you like having a sister on the show?
SUSAN WARD: I really like it. It's bringing a whole family dynamic to the show. and It's nice to have a stable family there, and it's nice to have parents and siblings. I think they're going to bring some more on. It's nice because you can trust them because I don't have anyone else out there but Tim, and he's in a coma and he's a little psycho... so it's nice to have normal people.
Dimonz asks: You seem to be such a natural in acting, I'm curious, what other acting experiences have you had?
SUSAN WARD: I did AMC for a little stint and I did Malibu Shores and that got me comfortable in front of the camera because it was a laid back environment, and I did Hercules. I am comfortable in front of the camera.. it's nice and -- knock on wood -- it was pretty easy for me.
TOPguest_e8d1448 asks: If you weren't an actress what profession would you choose?
SUSAN WARD: I have no idea because I love being on television, I love acting and I can't imagine doing anything else. You have a lot of freedom. You work really really really hard, but when you do have down time you have money to do things and you feel secure. So I don't know what I would be doing. I'd probably still be living with my parents :)
Taffy2512 asks: Do you like the direction that your character seems to be taking or would you rather Meg go another route?
SUSAN WARD: I like the direction that she's going in. I think that if anything she needs to become a little more independent and trust her instincts more than she does, instead of what everyone else tells her. And she needs a stable relationship instead of all this hoo-ha-ing around.
SRT3 asks: Susan what music do you like most?
SUSAN WARD: Okay, great CD... Tony Lucca... we did Malibu Shores together. You can get his CDs off the internet. Incredible CD. It's got a jazzy feel. I'm so into it right now. I listen to it in my car and take it into work with me.
Ericaguest_f8d1584 asks: How would you describe Clive (Ben) and how is your relationship with him in real life?
SUSAN WARD: We've gotten to be really close. He's a great guy. He's really funny. He has a real English wit about him. We get along really well. We hang out sometimes, he, Joe, I and Libby. We spent Thanksgiving together when we did the Macy's parade. He's great to spend time with.
Susannahguest_68d1721 asks: If we write you letters, do you write back? Keep up the good work!
SUSAN WARD: I usually send out -- because I get so much fan mail -- a picture that's been autographed and a letter I've typed on my computer. My best friend does my fan mail, so she reads all the letters. If there's a special letter she gets it to me and I send a handwritten personalized thing...
Ericaguest_f8d1584 asks: When you go out in public, do people recognize you?
SUSAN WARD: Sometimes they do. It's really weird when they do... at a gas station or when Joe and I were buying a CD at three o'clock in the morning and people were like that's not your boyfriend! Where's Clive!? :) But I do get recognized and it's nice.
Lele85 asks: Susan, what is your favorite part about being on the show?
SUSAN WARD: Just working everyday, knowing that you're gonna work every week and having new material every day... because when I have the same material everyday, like a play, I get bored with it but with new material everyday. It's really nice for me.
Kungfugod asks: Hey Susan, this joeviper66 guy is pretending to be your boyfriend.
SUSAN WARD: It is my boyfriend. Thanks for all the nice comments on my typing... I told you it was me :)
BabyC8 asks: When are Meg and the real Ben going to tie the not?
SUSAN WARD: I haven't heard of anything yet. It will probably be a while because Ben will of course have to recover from his torture chamber and something will have to be done about Derek. They haven't said anything to me about it... so not for a long time basically.
KimRenee1 asks: What's the funniest thing that's happened on the set?
SUSAN WARD: Things happen everyday. Well, I fall a lot and trip a lot.. and love scenes are really funny... but specifically, funny things happen everyday. I just trip a lot and mess up a lot. Sam Behrens [Gregory] came out in a glitter shirt in the middle of one of my scenes... that was lovely :)
Ezzzou asks: Suzan, hello, I'm a fan from Tunisia, it's a country located in north Africa, you have many fans in my country, what does this make you feel ?
SUSAN WARD: That's incredible. I didn't even know we were on there. It's incredible to know that people all over the world know who I am and watch the show. I really appreciate them for watching and writing fan letters and supporting me.
Physiognomist asks: Is Sarah Buxton really a nice person?
SUSAN WARD: She's great. She's the funniest girl in the world. She's not at all like her character and she's really really sweet .
Cartmanrage asks: Susan...how do you like living in Southern CA? Do you ever come down to San Diego?
SUSAN WARD: I go down to San Diego to go to the wildlife park and the zoo... I go about 3 times a year. I love S. Cal. It's very refreshing moving from NY where it's humid and snowing all the time, but here it's beautiful every day. And I kind of like El Nino when it rains everyday.
Kungfugod asks: With all respect to Joe......wanna marry me anyways Susan?
SUSAN WARD: No. But thank you very much... I appreciate the invitation.
SB_HEAT asks: Hey Susan, is Mr. Aaron Spelling a good producer?
SUSAN WARD: He's fabulous. He's such a kind man and very giving. When my father was in the hospital he called him to check on him and sent me flowers. He's just a great man, very genuine and easy going.
Angelaguest_a8d2005 asks: Do you use clothes, jewelry etc in the show from your own wardrobe?
SUSAN WARD: No. We're not allowed because you have to use them day after day after day... so none of my own personal clothes.
Dizzzzz asks: Susan, will you and many of your castmates be attending the Emmys in NY?
SUSAN WARD: Yes, I will be I'm actually presenting -- Clive and I are -- I'm not sure who's going, but I'm sure we'll have a great time just as we did last year.
Maddie02 asks: Me again, My friends and I have a webpage devoted to you and Clive.... How do you feel about this overwhelming support of your fans?
SUSAN WARD: It's incredible. It's such an invigorating thing when people support you and are behind you with such tremendous power. It's just phenomenal.
SB_HEAT asks: I heard that Sam Behrens is such a jokster on the set. Has he ever played a prank on you?
SUSAN WARD: Other than that time, he plays jokes on me daily... usually about Joe.
BCGoldToe asks: Who's your best friend on the set and why?
SUSAN WARD: My best friend... probably Tim Adams, we're pretty close and then Julie, our make up artist. We all have a really good time together.
Nikki54220 asks: So Susan is it hard acting with the same man but having him play two characters at the same time?
SUSAN WARD: It's hard because they don't do the script in order, we don't do the scenes in order, but I know it's Clive. In the beginning it was difficult because I don't read the whole script, just my parts and I'd ask, "Who are you right now?" But it's fine and I treat him like I normally do.
Cartmanrage asks: Susan...have you heard of the group: SBPW? Sunset Beach Psycho Ward? We are on-line, and addicted to SB.
SUSAN WARD: No, I hadn't heard of you, but I'll check it out! Sunset
Beach Psycho Ward, no... but give me some info on it.
SGT_ABE asks: Did you know that you are very popular with the US service members around the US?
SUSAN WARD: No, I had no idea. I know I'm pretty popular in the prison circuit, but other than that... :D but thanks!
TheJavaWeb asks: What is it like to work with Kathleen Noone [Bette]?
SUSAN WARD: Oh she's great. she's such a supportive actor, so professional and so sweet. Everyone knows that if you're having a problem you go to Kathleen, she'll take care of the problem and take care of you. She's just a phenomenal woman.
SB_HEAT asks: How do you feel about your sister's little scandal in Washington? What do you feel about this storyline?
SUSAN WARD: I think it's a very popular storyline and I think they'll push it and use it to their advantage. Of course Meg doesn't approve of that, but she doesn't know about it either.. so we'll see her reaction when the truth does come out.
TheJavaWeb asks: Have you heard of SOS...Support our Sunset?
SUSAN WARD: No I haven't.
Gaybob23 asks: SB is now on in the UK do you or any of the cast plan to come to the UK to promote the show
SUSAN WARD: I don't know. Worldwide does all of our international travel arrangements, but I haven't been approached to do any, but hopefully one day I will.
Studman_83 asks: Is Tim [Dax Griffin] ever going to be able to speak!!!!!!! :)
SUSAN WARD: Gosh, I hope so. I definitely think they'll bring his character back to life, I'm not sure when, but hopefully soon.
Maddie02 asks: How does Joe compare to Clive?
SUSAN WARD: Joe is much more the true man. Incredibly honest, very genuine, and sweet and loving... I could go on and on.. He is just an incredible person and everything comes from his heart. I love him to death.
SODhost: Thank you, Susan for joining us! Thank you all for your
patience.
SUSAN WARD: Thanks everyone for coming and chatting. Sorry we were late. Hope to chat with you all again! And keep watching the show! And go visit highergroundgallery.com in gallery four... there are paintings that Joe did of me so you'll have to go see them!
Clive Robertson and Susan Ward Chat -- September 8, 1997
SODlive:
Hello all you SUNSET BEACH fans!
We're here with Clive Robertson & Susan Ward....
Better known as Ben & Meg to you :-)
SODlive:
Hello Clive & Susan
Susan and Clive:
HELLO!
Question:
For both Clive and Susan Who influenced you the most when you were growing up?
Susan Ward:
MY MOTHER DID. SHE WAS A VERY HARD
WORKER: A TEACHER & A PSYCHATRIC NURSE. I STUDIED PSYCHOLOGY
Clive Robertson:
PROBABLY MY FATHER. HE WAS A PILOT IN THE AIR FORCE. HE WAS A VERY GOOD FATHER TO ME. HE WAS A VERY HONEST & KIND MAN. THOUGH HE DIED WHEN I WAS 15, UP UNTIL THAT POINT, I THINK, YOUR MOTHER IS PROBABLY MORE IMPORTANT TO YOU THEN YOUR FATHER IS. I THINK HE INFLUENCED ME ENOUGH TO FOLLOW IN HIS FOOTSTEPS.
Question:
For both Susan and Clive: Where were you when you found out you got the part on Sunset Beach? What did you do when you found out?
Susan Ward:
I WAS ACTUALLY AT THE AIRPORT PICKING UP MY MOTHER. IT WAS A MONTH TO THE DAY THAT I TESTED FOR THE PART. I GOT A PAGE & PEGGY IN THE CASTING DEPT TOLD ME I GOT THE PART!
Clive Robertson:
I WAS STAYING WITH SOME FRIENDS IN PACIFIC PALISADES (I WASN'T LIVING IN LA AT THE TIME) MY MANAGER CALLED ME & SAID I GOT THE FRIGGIN' PART!I SAID, I GOT THE PART? AND HE SAID, YES! AND THEN I DOVE IN THE SWIMMING POOL.
Question:
For Susan - Was it fun taping the "catfight" with Sarah Buxton?
Susan Ward:
YEAH, IT WAS ACTUALLY A LOT OF FUN. WE
LAUGHED THROUGH ALL OF THE SCENES. OUR BODY DOUBLES FIT US TO A TEE. WE DID EVERYTHING THEY DID, TOO. IT WAS A LOT OF FUN.
Question:
For Clive - I love your character (but who doesn't). I read you moved to the statesjust for this part. How are do you like it here?
Clive Robertson:
TRULY, I LOVE IT. I LOVE CALIFORNIA, I HAD
NEVER BEEN HERE UNTIL A MONTH BEFORE I GOT THE PART. I LOVE THE SUNSHINE MOST OF ALL AND I LOVE WHERE I LIVE, IT'S SO DIFFERENT THAN WHERE I LIVED IN LONDON AND EVERYTHING OUT HERE IS SO RELAXED
COMPARED TO LONDON. IT SUITS ME BETTER, I
THINK.
Question:
Susan, what does Ben need to say or do to prove himself to
Meg?
Clive Robertson:
OH COME ON! I THINK HE'S SAID ENOUGH
ALREADY!
Susan Ward:
I THINK HE NEEDS TO STOP CALLING ME MARIA, FOR ONE. AND HE NEEDS TO STOP LISTENING TO WHAT ANNIE SAYS TO HIM. HE NEEDS TO WINE & DINE HER, AND WOO HER.
Clive Robertson:
THERE'S A LOT MORE COMING UP!
Question:
Clive...you are so handsome when you wear black and blue on the show, what colors are your favorite to wear off screen?
Clive Robertson:
BLUE & BLACK. SERIOUSLY!
AND WHITE, OCCASSIONALLY.
Question:
Clive, hello! :) I know that you did a lot of theatre in
England. Do you prefer Theatre or television, and are they similar in any ways? Thank you!
Clive Robertson:
IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, I PREFER THEATER AS A MEDIUM ONLY BECAUSE I'M A BIT OF A PERFECTIONIST & THEATER
ALLOWS YOU TO PERFECT YOUR PERFOMANCE. HAVING SAID THAT, IT DOESN'T PAY VERY WELL! I'VE NEVER DONE AS MUCH TV AS I HAVE SINCE I'VE DONE THIS SHOW AND WHAT I LIKE MOSTABOUT IT IS, THAT I HAVE, AS AN ACTOR, BECOME MORE SPONTANEOUS AS AN ACTOR BECAUSE YOU CAN'T BE AS POLISHED IN YOUR PERFORMANCE.
Question:
Susan, do you still ride mountain bikes like you did years
ago?
Susan Ward
NO, I DIDN'T RIDE MOUNTAIN BIKES, I WAS A BMX RACER. I DON'T RIDE BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A BIKE HERE, BUT I AM LOOKING TO GET ONE AND TAKE IT OUT ON THE MOUNTAINS & JUST PEDAL MY HEART AWAY!
Question:
I was wondering if you were in a british ad for chewing gum, Clive, or am I imagining things!
Clive Robertson:
OH, DEAR! I'VE BEEN FOUND OUT! YES! THIS IS
THE SAD, AWFUL TRUTH. HOW DO YOU KNOW?
Question:
If your characters were to be broken up, who would you
each choose for your character's next love interest?
Clive Robertson:
AUNT BETTE!
Susan Ward:
PROBABLY MARK ACTUALLY BECAUSE WE HAVE A REALLY GOOD CHEMISTRY AND WE WORK WELL TOGETHER. WE'RE THE TWO GOOD CHARACTERS OF THE SHOW AND HE'S FUN TO WORK WITH.
Question:
Susan and Clive, this is for both of you. Has the response to Ben and Meg surprised you? How much mail do you typically recieve, and do you get a chance to read it? Thanks... Cherilyn in PA :)
Clive Robertson:
I COULDN'T TELL YOU HOW MANY LETTERS I GET... 25 A WEEK? AND, YES., I READ ALL THE LETTERS I GET. I REALLY ENJOY READING THEM BECAUSE OCCASSIONALLY I GET ONE THAT'S REALLY INTERESTING.
Susan Ward:
I GET ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT. I DO TRY TO READ ALL OF MY LETTERS & PICK OUT THE FEW SPECIAL ONES: CHILDREN IN THE HOSPITAL, PEOPLE WHO ARE SICK, ETC AND I TRY TO RESPOND TO THEM
Question:
Susan: I watched you on Malibu Shores. What is the difference between Primetime and Daytime shows? Which is easier?
Susan Ward:
PRIMETIME IS DEFINITELY A LOT LESS WORK! ON SB, WE FILM AN EPISODE A DAY. AT MALIBU, WE FILMED AN EPISODE IN 7 DAYS THERE WAS STILL LONG HOURS BUT LESS TO DO. A LOT LESS PRESSURE. I LIKED MS BECAUSE WE WERE ON LOCATION IN MALIBU IT WAS NICE TO BE ON THE BEACH, VERY RELAXING. I LIKE PRIMETIME A LOT, BUT I LOVE WHAT I’M DOING NOW.
Question:
Susan, what's it like working with Clive?----Angela
Susan Ward:
CLIVE IS INCREDIBLE TO WORK WITH
Clive Robertson:
I'M SITTING HERE NEXT TO HER, HOLDING HER
DOWN, WITH A MALLET TO HER HEAD!
Susan Ward:
IT'S A JOY WORKING WITH CLIVE. WE COVER FOR EACH OTHER A LOT OF THE TIMES. HE'S VERY PATIENT & GIVING IN A LOT OF WAYS. HE'S HELD MY HAND A FEW DAYS & HELPED ME THROUGH MY DAY
Question:
Susan and Clive-I love you guys on the show!!! :-) What's it like working with the rest of the cast?
Clive Robertson:
WELL, EACH CAST MEMBER IS OBVIOUSLY
DIFFERENT. AND I WORK DIFFERENTLY WITH
EACH & EVERY ONE OF THEM. SOME YOU JUST FIND EASIER TO WORK WITH THAN OTHERS FOR INSTANCE, I ENJOY THE FEW SCENES I HAVE WITH SAM BEREHENS AND HANK CHEYNE. AND SARAH BUXTON.
Susan Ward:
DITTO. I REALLY ENJOY WORKING WITH NICK
STABILE, WE WORK REALLY WELL WITH EACH
OTHER SARAH BUXTON, I LIKE WORKING WITH
HER, TOTAL BAD GIRL & I'M A GOOD GIRL. IT'S
GOOD TO SEE HOW WE REACT OFF EACH OTHER. WE REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW THE SCENE IS GOING TO WORK UNTIL WE DO IT.
Question:
AFTER THE CHRISTMAS WEDDING (HOPEFULLY) ARE THERE ANY PLANS OF EVER FILMING IN EUROPE? VENICE THE MOST ROMANTIC CITY IN THE WORLD. I KNOW YOU CAN'T DO SPOILERS.
Clive Robertson:
WHEN WORKING WITH RICK BENNOWITZ, ONE OF OUR DIRECTORS, HE SUGGESTED IN ONE SCENE THAT WE DID THAT WE MENTION VENICE AS MANY TIMES AS POSSIBLE. IN ORDER TO PLANT A SEED IN THE PRODUCER'S HEAD ABOUT JUST THAT! SO, YOU NEVER KNOW! I DON'T THINK VENICE IN THE STUDIO WILL HAVE QUITE THE SAME IMPACT!
Question:
You both are great....Who fools around most on the set?
Clive Robertson:
PROBABLY SAM.
Susan Ward:
YES, SAM BEREHENS
Question:
You guys are great on Sunset Beach! Which do you enjoy taping more;the outdoor beach scenes or in the studio?
Susan Ward:
OUTDOOR! ONCE YOU'RE IN THE STUDIO ALL DAY LONG YOU START TO FEEL LIKE A VAMPIRE... YOU GO IN WHEN IT;S DARK & LEAVE WHEN IT'S DARK SO I REALLY ENJOY LOCATION WORK
Clive Robertson:
LOCATION IS LIKE BEING ON HOLIDAY, FOR ME.
Susan Ward:
I AGREE. AND IT'S MORE LAIDBACK.
Question:
Susan & Clive - If you were stuck on a desert island with one other person.....who would that person be?
Clive Robertson:
MY GIRLFRIEND PUT ME!
Susan Ward:
THE MYSTERIOUS & WEALTHY ENTREPENEUR BEN EVANS
Question:
Clive and Susan hi, I love you both on the show how do you feel about all this attention Sunset Beach has been recieving on-line?
Susan Ward:
I DON'T HAVE A COMPUTER AT MY HOUSE, SO I'M REALLY NOT IN TOUCH WITH THE CHAT ROOMS & EVERYTHING TO DO WITH THE INTERNET. BUT FROM WHAT I HEAR FROM PEOPLE AT WORK, IT'S VERY VERY GOOD. I THINK IT'S TREMENDOUS
Clive Robertson:
DITTO. BUT, I JUST PURCHASED A COMPUTER AS OF LAST MONTH, I TRIED TO GET ONLINE,
AND I WASN'T ABLE TO FIND MY WAY AROUND VERY EASILYBUT I WILL TRY AGAIN WHEN I HAVE MORE TIME.
Question:
hello do you think Meg will ever get a better bedroom?
Clive Robertson:
I PRAY, PRAY EVERY NIGHT!
Susan Ward:
LOL. I THINK SHE WILL IN THE FUTURE. SHE'LL HAVE MORE MONEY WHEN SHE'S WITH BEN. I'VE BEEN FIGHTING THAT FROM THE GET GO: HER WARDROBE, ETC. BUT SHE'S A SIMPLE GIRL FROM KANSAS & SHE'S JUST GETTING OUT THERE IN THE REAL WORLD. BUT YES, I'M HOPING THINGS WILL CHANGE, THE SOONER THE BETTER.
Question:
Clive: how do you feel about the sex symbol status that you have reached?
Clive Robertson:
WHAT SEX SYMBOL STATUS? ARE THERE THINGS GOING ON THAT I'M NOT PRIVY TO?
Question:
Susan, Meg seems to be torn between following her heart and listening to her mind. What will she utimately do?
Susan Ward:
WELL, I GUESS IT DEPENDS ON BEN, HOW HE
REACTS & WHAT HE DOES TO CHANGE HER MIND, IF SHE CAN CHANGE HER MIND. HOPEFULLY SHE'LL GO WITH HER HEART, BUT THOSE BRAINS GET IN THE WAY.
Question:
To Clive: What was your reaction about the princess?
Clive Robertson:
WELL, I WAS SHOCKED AS EVERYONE ELSE WAS, I'M SURE. I WAS ALSO SHOCKED BY THE REACTION THAT I WAS HEARING FROM THE AMERICAN PUBLIC. I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW POPULAR SHE WAS HERE, TO BE HONEST THE LAST TIME I SAW DIANA WAS AT THE HARBOR CLUB GYM IN LONDON ABOUT 18 MONTHS AGO & IT WAS OVER EASTER, SHE WAS SITTING ON A ROW WITH A BAR READING A NEWSPAPER. I WAS SORELY TEMPTED TO GO TALK TO HER.
Question:
Susan, I loved your portrayal of Psyche' on Hercules, is there any chance of you doing another episode?
Susan Ward:
I HOPE SO, IN THE FUTURE THAT I CAN RETURN & GO BACK TO NEW ZELAND I HEARD RECENTLY THAT PSYCHE HAD A BABY. I REALLY ENJOYED WORKING THERE WITH KEVIN SORBO. HE'S AN INCREDIBLE PERSON. HE WAS VERY KIND & GENEROUS TO ME, & MADE ME FEEL WELCOME. I WOULD LOVE TO RETURN.
Question:
Who on the show is most unlike his/her character?
Susan Ward:
SARAH
Clive Robertson:
SAM
SUSAN WARD:
SARAH'S NOT THAT MUCH OF A BITCH. SHE'S
VERY SWEET & KIND. SHE'S NOT
CONNIVING & MALICOUS LIKE ANNIE IS.
Clive Robertson:
I AGREE WITH THAT. ALSO, SAM, BENEATH THAT HARD EXTERIOR, IS A PUSSYCAT. SAM IS SO, SO KIND & GENEROUS PERSON. HE IS THE
ANTITHESIS OF GREGORY
Question:
Clive: An awkward ? but what is your favorite beverage?
Clive Robertson:
PROBABLY AT THE MOMENT, STOLI VODKA &
TONIC
Question:
For Clive or Susan: I live up here in Canada. Do either of you know when any of the SB actors will do public appearences up here?
Clive Robertson:
THERE'S TALK OF BRINGING A BUNCH OF ACTORS FOR A SOAPFEST EVENT UP THERE BUT NOTHING IS DEFINITE
Question:
Clive and Susan, what did you do with your first pay check?
Clive Robertson:
I SPENT IT ON A CAR, I THINK. ACTUALLY, IT WENT TO PAY FOR ALL MY DEBTS, WHICH INCLUDED BUYING A CAR.
Susan Ward:
I PAID RENT & WENT SHOPPING!
Question:
I hear you both were on location in Kansas...was that any fun?---Jan 1859
Susan Ward:
IT WAS ACTUALLY A LOT OF FUN. WE WERE ALL TOGETHER IN A BIG VAN &STAYED ON THIS BIG HOTEL W/NO WINDOWS WENT ON THESE ADVENTURES TO FIND RESTURAUNTS. IT WAS A BONDING EXPERIENCE. IT WAS A LOT OF WORK BUT A LOT OF FUN.

CHAT TRANSCRIPT WITH DOMINIQUE JENNINGS WHO PORTRAYS VIRGINIA HARRISON
Question: Chairmanx asks: Is this your first web chat?
EA DomJen: Actually, no. I did something for MTV, so this is my second one. It wasn't like this one though.
Question: Do you think VA has gone too far in her quest for Michael?
EA DomJen: Speaking as Dominique, yeah I think she's gone too far. Speaking as Virginia, no, I don't think so. Because it's for her son. The sake of her son. The quest for Michael. I feel there is no one out there who can understand him the way that I can. Of course, I want the best for my son. So this quest is just the best I can get for him. And Jason is a great guy in person too. I feel like he is my brother. We talk about everything.
Question: Dominique, It's me, Penni from SOS. How much influence have you
had in making Virginia a villainess...
EA DomJen: Oh!!!!! Penny is so sweet. I love Penny. Hi Penny. Hmmm ... what have I done? Well, the thing is, as me as a person, it is hard for me to do those scenes with Vanessa. Sometimes we are very emotional in our scenes. She is not all mean.
Question: Do you ever get stopped on the streets and yelled at for being such
a mean character?
EA DomJen: Yes, yes I do. All the time. They say I am mean and that's about it. I don't get a lot of work, and no one waits outside the studio to hit me or anything. People don't usually confuse me with my character. Although I hear that a lot from other soap stars though.
Question: Is it hard to play 2 characters? [I think she's referring to Selita Jones here]
EA DomJen: It is challenging to play two characters on the show. I decided I really needed to play the two characters very differently, and when I get in the clothes it is easier for me to just turn into the character.
Question: You are so very beautiful. Have you done any modeling?
EA DomJen: That is so nice. Thank you. I did some modeling here and there
but {I'm} not really a model.
Question: I would really like to be an actress. Can you tell me how to get started.
EA DomJen: Oh, bless your heart. I started on Sesame Street at like eight or nine. I would suggest you get involved in theater at school and get some pictures taken of yourself and maybe into a showcase of some sort of you can. But theater is really the way to start. Just keep acting and keep going!
Question: What was it like working with Bruce Willis, Picard199 wants to know.
EA DomJen: You know what? Honestly, He wasn't there when I worked. I worked with the director only. I didn't get to work with anyone really exciting. I played a news anchor, so I was behind a desk. It was an experience though
Question: Do you have a funny story or a practical joke from the show?
HllywdChk wants to know.
EA DomJen: I remember dressing up and come out talking to myself, and I had to sit down and start working on the computer. And as I did it, I felt the chair start to topple--it felt like it was in slow motion--but I felt it going and there was nothing I could do about it, and I just fell over.
Question: Out of everything you've done -- movies, sitcoms, soaps -- which do you prefer? WynnCan wants to know.
EA DomJen: Oh, it's all so different. I enjoy every one in a different way. I like film because it is on such a large scale. The soap has been a great experience.
The plays have been wonderful.
Question: Do you think Vanessa will ever find out that VA is behind her
Martins Syndrome? From LukiLadi.
EA DomJen: Oh I sure hope not. It will be a problem. Sometimes I read the scripts and I am afraid to see what I do next. I read one and I just thought "Oh I'm busted now." I don't know how I got out of it ... but I did! I remember I was at a cash register taking money and my dad called me and he said "Oh they've got you now" But I was like, "Oh dad. Wait and see." Since we tape a month in advance, I know things he doesn't know. :) We have some neat stuff coming up.
You'll just have to wait and see.
EAMC Host: Do you see VA getting redeemed soon?
EA DomJen: Anytime soon? No. Down the line? Yeah.
Question: Are you spoken for? EA Brewer wants to know.
EA DomJen: Uuhhhhh. Sort of. Kind of in the midst of something. We'll see where that goes.
Question: What were your thoughts on the Terror Islands story line? From
Ldpebws.
EA DomJen: Probably the time that I say was the most fun and the most challenging on the show was the Terror Island story. It was really good, but really draining. We were all a wreck over it. There was so many interesting things going on. And we were so tired, we didn't know what we were saying half the time.
Question: If you were banished to an island, what 3 albums would you take?
EA DomJen: Marvin Gaye. I'd probably take the best of Prince.
Question: How long is the Virginia, Michael, Vanessa triangle going to last?
EA DomJen: How long? Good question. I have no idea. As far as I know in advance it's still going on. But there is someone else in the mix down the road -- another man.
Question: Your interpretaion of Selita Jones was hilarious, any idea if the
Nurse or Dr. will catch you?
EA DomJen: Thank you. Right now, Selita has been fired so you won't be seeing her again anytime soon. Of course Vanessa's mother is there now so I will be hanging around.
Question: What's the weirdest gift a fan's ever given you? That's from
HllywdChk.
EA DomJen: I haven't gotten anything that weird. I have gotten some candles [From The SOS Gang via AMANDA2AL]. I got a candy apple once but I didn't eat it. I got it on the Daydream tour in Ohio. We went to the mall there and there were 15,000 people there. I felt like Michael Jackson. So, I got an apple there but I was worried if there was a razor blade in it or something.
Question: If you could change anything about your role, what would it be and
why?
EA DomJen: There may be another guy out there for her, other than Michael.
Question: How appropriate the "asylum" will Virginia ever go in there for real?
EA DomJen: Oh that's very funny.
Question: When is Virginia going to confess?
EA DomJen: You'll just have to watch to find out. :)
Question: Describe yourself in 3 words, and your character as well.
EA DomJen: Crazy, ambitious and caring. For Virginia: Desperate, one-track mind, and loving. Loving in a bizarre way.
EAMC Host: Thank you very much for joining us today in our weekly soap chat.
EA DomJen: Thank you for having me. Its been a pleasure.
Sunset Beach's Clive Robertson Duels With A Dual Role!
Interview
from the 6/16/98 issue of
Soap Opera Digest
Digest:What has your schedule been like?
Robertson:I feel completely brainwashed. It's been difficult, because they've been scheduling me last every day. I've had so many scenes that I come in at 1, often don't get on(set) until 5 and go until we finish. We shoot late, and it's difficult to concentrate at that time. If we finish at 10 or 11 (p.m.), then I have to go home to learn all my lines and I don't get to bed until 2 a.m. I've been getting up at 10 and trying to remember my lines I learned the night before. It;s been a vicious circle and I haven't really had a life.
Digest:Do you think the story is working?
Robertson:It gets better from what I've read. The way they've been writing Ben since he's been locked up has been annoying me. I'm really bored with him. Ben has never allowed anyone to get the better of him, and he's not been allowed to express himself in the way that he would. They've been writing all these great, great lines for Derek, but nothing for Ben. I'm looking forward to getting Ben back to himself.
Digest:Which would be what?
Robertson:The interesting thing about Ben is that I never set out with the intention of making him likable. He's fairly abrupt, fairly antisocial, but with different people, other sides of his character are brought out. That's what the audience bought into. He's a bit of an antihero.
Digest:Do you enjoy playing Derek?
Robertson:Yes, I've had a lot of fun playing him. I find Derek a lot easier to play, Ben's quite difficult to portray, actually. Ben has to this sort of economy with movement in the way he walks, talks, and does things, whether it;s picking up a phone or whatever. Derek, I find much more liberating. I've purposely not given him that same ease with things.
Digest:What else do you do to differentiate Derek from Ben?
Robertson:When I first played Derek, his voice was much posher. He was more sophisticated, brought about by the fact that he was trying to copy Ben, but not doing a very good job. Lately Derek's become more comfortable with being Ben, so the differences are fewer.
Digest:Have you had any problems with how easy it has been for Derek to take over Ben's life?
Robertson: Some situations are a bit difficult to believe They haven't made it very clear that Derek's soundproofed the room and put speakers in. That's how he's able to hear what's happening. And the password---the fact that Derek has all Ben' s I.D., but can't access his password. I would have thought he could go to the bank with his passbook and credit cards and checkbook and get the money. I assume it's in a Swiss account and you need I.D.s for stuff like that. And Derek used to always have the same clothes as Ben. My idea was that he;s been plotting this for a long time. He's been keeping such close tabs on Ben, he probably broke into his house and bought the same clothes he saw in Ben's wardrobe, actually monitoring him so closely that he was able to wear (the same outfit) on any given day. But they sort of brushed over all that.
Digest:Anything else?
Robertson:Meg is in the warehouse with Derek, so you would expect Ben to shout at her. But Derek has said he'll kill her if anything happens,so I guess that's fair enough; he's not going to endanger her. But then Casey shows up. Derek does have a knife in his hand, so I suppose Ben is thinking that Derek will kill Casey and then, kill Meg. But personally? I would have screamed.
Digest:What are your thought about to continuing to play the dual role?
Robertson:It's fun to play two different characters, and there are some interesting things coming up between the brothers that I am excited about doing.
Digest:Do you think the fans are buying the story?
Robertson:They can buy anything now that Ben isn't the killer.
Sunset Beach's Priscilla Garita's Chat Transcript
SODhost: Priscilla Garita (Gabi, Sunset Beach) is here! Welcome, Priscilla!
PRISCILLA GARITA: Hi! I really don't know how to introduce myself, this is my first time doing a chat on the phone. I did a chat once before at our Sunset Beach Pre-Emmy Party, for about 5 minutes. This is interesting for me... odd.
KaraLee_319 asks: Hi Priscilla! What is the best part about being on Sunset Beach?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Hmmm... the best part has to be the people that I work with.
TheJavaWeb asks: What was it like working with Nick Stabile [ex-Mark] and do you miss working with him?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Aw... I miss Nick so much! Working with him was a real pleasure. We just had fun all the time. I miss working with him & rehearsing with him & hanging out with him... He's just a really cool person. He was so giving, always willing to try new ideas during a scene, always making me laugh... That's not too hard to do, though, LOL. He always made me feel good, you know? Just a great guy, a good friend. Put me in my place a couple of times, LOL.
Ambbie asks: Hi, do you plan to do other projects besides Sunset Beach?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Well, if I had the opportunity to, definitely. I don't have anything planned right now, but I am definitely looking for projects to work on while doing the show. My next thrill would be to do a film... that would be exciting.
Beachpie asks: Who is the biggest jokester on the set?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Hmmm....Eddie Cibrian [Cole] is a big joker... Tim Adams [Casey] is always joking around, making me laugh. And you know who's funny... I'm not working with her, but in hair & makeup [I see] Jessica Tuck [Diane] who is not on contract. She would come in with a joke everyday! She made people laugh.
KaraLee_319 asks: What do you think will happen to Ricardo and Gabi?
PRISCILLA GARITA: I can't foretell the future... I don't know! I wish I did. Taking it one day at a time right now. Hopefully it's all good stuff!
SunsetBeachLover asks: Did U prefer being 'evil'?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Absolutely! It's exciting, you get to do things you're not allowed to do in everyday life. Since it was something that is not like my personality in real life, it was fun to explore how to be all those evil things. And also, it made the people who know me kind of question what was going on, LOL!
Beachpie asks: Do you miss working with Laura Harring [Paula] and Leigh Taylor-Young [Elaine]?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Oh, I do! I have spoken with Leigh a couple of times, she was just a good spirit. Her presence on the show, just knowing her & meeting her was a real honor. I had my first scenes on the show with her. My mom knew her from Peyton Place, I think. To work with such a well-established actress was just such a learning experience. And Laura I miss. You know, it's strange to have someone you call your sister, even if it was a half-sister, because in real-life it means so much. We didn't have much time to explore that. I missed the opportunity to explore that on the show, but I am happy to have had that little taste of that, where I could have not had it at all.
Garfield_25541 asks: are you happy with your character being changed from bad girl to good girl
PRISCILLA GARITA: Hmmm... the transition has been fun, but I am exploring a different part of the character with turning good, because making that transition from bad to good is... how do i want to phrase this?... I'm tapping into a vulnerability in the goodness, which I hadn't experienced before when I was bad. So I guess it's the vulnerability that I am enjoying.
KaraLee_319 asks: Will Paula return to the show?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Not that I am aware of, but you never know these days. There are other fortune tellers called producers and writers... you'd have to ask them! lol
Jason2628 asks: hi Priscilla, I watch SB regularly,do they let you choose what you want to wear?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Sometimes, if I'm not happy with the outfit in fitting in with what my day is, I'll ask them to change it. Or sometimes I'll mix & match a skirt & shirt, to fit the mood of the character that day. But usually they're good about doing stuff that is well related.
TheOtherSpice asks: Who would you like to see Gabi with: Antonio or Ricardo?
PRISCILLA GARITA: LOL! At this stage right now... I can't think about a relationship, it's too heavy right now. It's a lot to deal with... men are a big responsibility. I don't know. But they're both fun! I could toss a coin & be happy if I had heads or tails! They're both cute! It's not hard to look at either of those guys & come to work!
Meganguest_18a043073 asks: What is the biggest difference between you and Gabi?
PRISCILLA GARITA: I guess the aggressiveness of gabi is something I wish priscilla had. Aggressiveness in getting what I want, or in speaking my mind... her strength. Although I guess I do have some strengths, Priscilla does... just never enough! SuPa_fLy84 asks: r u married
PRISCILLA GARITA: No. No, thanks! LOL Not at this point in my life!
Beachpie asks: Does Gabi still work at the Deep?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Part-time, I do. Well, you haven't seen me work, but I've been working, darnit!
Holly153 asks: i think that you are such a good actress!!! How did you first get into acting?
PRISCILLA GARITA: That would be when I was in high school, I was attending a modeling school & they had a class which was in front of the camera, so it wasn't just modeling, it was trying your face in front of the camera. And I really enjoyed that part. I just felt like I was using more intellect & communicating. It was my first connection to what the business was like: people behind the camera, in front of the camera. Then I took another class outside of that school, more for acting... actually commercial & soap acting.
KaraLee_319 asks: Who do you see as a mentor or role model?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Actress-wise, people like Meryl Streep, Katharine Hepburn, haven't seen all of Natalie Wood's movies but she is someone my interest is peaked in. Who else? Jodie Foster, love her. I love Jennifer Jason Leigh's work. Sally Field. You see, now you got me going! There are a lot of great female actresses that we can look up to & aspire to do their kind of work
Angelaguest_5a042832 asks: Who is your best friend on the show?
PRISCILLA GARITA: As Priscilla, Sherri [Saum, Vanessa] has been probably my closest friend on the show. you know, girl-to-girl. We're girls when we're together, really girls.
NotRoebuck asks: Priscilla Burbank Poetry Lady says hi. - Love the new direction of your character. Do you see yourself as a Paula replacement on the force?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Well, I don't think I'm a paula replacement... I could definitely see myself working on the police force... We're totally 2 different people. Being a detective would be cool. Ricardo & Gabi would be a good team, which I have mentioned, probably in the script out loud.
TheJavaWeb asks: Where are you originally from?
PRISCILLA GARITA: I was born in Yonkers, New York, but I grew up in Connecticut. Then I moved back to New York for about 5 or 6 years. And I lived in Costa Rica for about six months. and now I'm here.
Kellyguest_2da0524 asks: What do you think about watching yourself on tv?
PRISCILLA GARITA: It's tough to not feel uncomfortable or be overly critical, but it's really helpful to watch the performance to get a sense of if I'm headed in the right direction or I'm really expressing what Gabi is feeling.
TheJavaWeb asks: Priscilla is a cute name, were you named after someone?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Guess!
Kimberly_Wimberly_Bimberly asks: Priscilla Presley?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Ding, ding, ding! You're right! My Mom & Dad named all their children after artists of some kind -- actors, I believe one was a ballet dancer -- or someone special in the family.
KaraLee_319 asks: What is your favorite storyline from Sunset Beach so far?
PRISCILLA GARITA: I guess Terror Island, that was the most exciting, I thought. It seemed like we were really living it.
Jensenacklesbabe asks: Do you think Gabi is over Mark's death?
PRISCILLA GARITA: No, that's all too soon. It's only been 5 months, going on my 6th month of losing my best friend... I don't think I'm over it yet.
Rcaden asks: Your Terror Island scenes with Nick Stabile were heart-breaking. Is that kind of on-screen chemistry hard work to pull off?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Sure, it can be, but the fact that Nick & I had such a good relationship didn't make it hard, made it kind of easy. I don't want to make [it sound like] it was nothing... very natural.
KaraLee_319 asks: What do you think is the ultimate flaw in your character, Gabi?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Anger & fear have to be the traits that are my deadliest.
Meganguest_18a043073 asks: Do you reply to the letters that you receive from your fans?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Yes, I try and send an 8 x 10 and a cover letter, but I can't really respond on an individual basis because I am lucky enough to get a lot of letters from fans, it requires a lot of time.
RAGGEDANDY1998 asks: Is Gabi falling for Father Antonio?
PRISCILLA GARITA: LOL How could you not? He's an honest man, a good honest man!
Jason2628 asks: Priscilla have you ever had the chance to meet Aaron Spelling?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Briefly at a celebration we had for Sunset. He was there & I quickly introduced myself. I didn't have the opportunity to attend the session, there was a cast meeting in Aaron's office when the show first began. Since my character didn't start for another month, I hadn't been flown out yet. So I was still a mystery, as everyone was to me.
_JEN_1998 asks: Priscilla- Why did Mark leave?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Well, first of all, Mark was killed by a horrible man. I can tell you that, if I knew I could have fixed it. It was a shock & disappointment to me, as I'm sure it was to you.
___Mine___ asks: now with being a star comes star power, so what benificial ways have you used your star power?(charity work etc.)
PRISCILLA GARITA: I have attended functions, which have been nice, that I have either been invited to or been made aware of by our publicist at Sunset. That's a real perk, it adds dimension to the work, to be able to help people. As for as star power, that sounds like a funny term, but the perks of being an actress that is working is the accessibility to functions like fundraisers... being invited, more opportunities.
KaraLee_319 asks: What would you like to see happen with Gabi?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Well, I think she has had a lot of intense life experiences in the last 6-8 months, & I'd like to see some revelation or a growth spurt of some sort, some awareness on a deeper level of what life is about.
Aprilrogers asks: Do you watch any soaps in your spare time??
PRISCILLA GARITA: I flick on Another World every so often, I know a couple of people on there and I like to touch base with them, even by watching. Days I was never familiar with... but when I get to I watch AW & definitely our show, and sometimes catch the last 1/2 hour of Days.
Beachpie asks: What did you think of the whole Terror Island Storyline? You did great during that time and still are.
PRISCILLA GARITA: Like I said before, I had a blast working with all the cast & crew. It was exhausting, the hours were long, and because of the text, there was a lot of drama, it was very physically draining. Being together for so many hours lent a reality to it, and I think it made us all closer. I had a great time working.
Hawke_088 asks: What is your favorite color(s)?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Purple, I guess. It used to be blue growing up, then I changed to lilac... I don't really have a real favorite, favorite now, but I do like colors.
GUIDO9821 asks: Are you aware of the fact that the show is to be seen in many countries all over the world?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Yes! I know that we have great international support, & that's a plus in all our favor.
RAGGEDANDY1998 asks: How close are Gabi and Cole on the show?
PRISCILLA GARITA: We're not strangers, we're not very close family, but we're friends & we have a connection that we're both aware of. I think we're honoring that connection & helping each other out, in our recent scenes together. (Connection: Paula is our half-sister, but we're not siblings.)
GabiNo1Fan asks: usually, how many hours per day, days per week, etc. do you usually work? how often do you get breaks to travel and visit friends or relatives or just sleep?
PRISCILLA GARITA: Well, for me, with Gabi, since she's not at the frontburner in storylines, I have a nice, lax schedule. I might work 2-3 days on average, my days are not long, I work 4-8 hours. the woman who schedules our hours is wonderful about getting me in at a reasonable hour & getting stuff done. Visiting family I have been fortunate, but things always come up, I am always pressed for time. I was fortunate, recently I was able to take 4 days to go see a friend who wasn't really doing well. It was last minute but I didn't really need to ask for any days off.
Aderkeler asks: is it true that sb is going to go off the air in september, please say this is not true because i love the show and the stories are great, and the acting is wonderful, especially yours *s*
PRISCILLA GARITA: Well, that's news to me, I haven't heard that one yet! I hope it's not true, & let's not start that rumor! We're just getting somewhere.
Dustie_Moon asks: What's in store for Gabi this summer?
PRISCILLA GARITA: ADVENTURE!
SODhost: Thanks, Priscilla! And thank you all for joining us!
PRISCILLA GARITA: Thanks for making my first experience online so easy. Keep cheering us on, keep watching, keep chatting with us, keep spreading the name. Your support is definitely embraced.
Kam Heskin Interview
from SOD online
When KAM HESKIN, Beach's new Caitlin, graduated from college with a double major in political science and broadcast journalism, she had a big decision to make. "I had the choice to be a copywriter for a local television station or move to Chicago and do some modeling and acting," the Grand Junction, Colorado native tells Digest Online. "I decided to take a chance and moved to Chicago."
It wasn't long before she nabbed her first professional job -- modeling for a Montgomery Ward catalogue. Although she was attracted by the Windy City's theater community, the twentysomething actress decided that there were more acting opportunities in New York. A role in a film directed by Face Off director John Woo followed, and soon thereafter, Heskin landed the role of Caitlin, replacing original castmember Vanessa Dorman. "I think she has finally had enough," the actress shares of what's in store for the new Caitlin. "She'll start to be a little bit of a stronger person." The character will need an added dose of bravado, judging from what's in store for her this summer. (The show's spokesperson notes, "She'll be taking a cruise this summer with her husband [Cole], and a lot of unexpected things happen on it. It's part of seismic summer!") In other words, man the lifeboat, Caitlin!
Meanwhile, Heskin is delighted to have landed on her feet in Los Angeles, after braving nearly two years in New York. "I have more freedom now that I can drive and not have to be on a subway," she enthuses of the upsides of being a Californian. "Plus, it's less expensive here. The amount of space you get for your money doesn't compare -- my apartment is three times the size of my one in New York!" And there's one more thing Heskin loves about L.A. "I love the weather here. I like how sunny it is. It's a beautiful day everyday." Sounds like she'll fit right into the Beach.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DIGEST ONLINE: Has the show given you any notes about wanting to take the character in a new direction?
HESKIN: Well, I think so much has been happening to Caitlin. I think she has finally had enough. [Laughs] She'll start to be a little bit of a stronger person, and I feel she's tired of having all these people [on her case]. I think she's going to start sticking up for herself and take more control of what's going on.
DIGEST ONLINE: What can you share with readers about what's ahead for Caitlin and her storyline?
HESKIN: I finally get time away from everyone, and it's time for Cole and I but--
DIGEST ONLINE: Earthquake! It'll be a fun storyline I hear, a nail biter!
HESKIN: I definitely think it will. I read the scripts as they come, and I can't wait for the next day to read what's going to happen!
DIGEST ONLINE: The story of you landing the part is something out of a movie!
HESKIN: I read for someone from NBC in New York, and a couple of days later on a Thursday, I flew to L.A. to screen test. The next Friday morning, I was on a noon flight headed back to New York. The pilot made his departure announcement, and we were already to take off. Then, the flight attendant announced, "Kam Heskin, please ring your call button." I was thinking that maybe there was a problem with my luggage. My call button was broken, so the flight attendant came looking in the cabin for me, "Where is Kam Heskin?" I waved to her, and she yelled across the cabin, "You got the part! You have to get off the plane!"
DIGEST ONLINE: You must have been a bit disoriented!
HESKIN: Yes, and they couldn't get my luggage off the plane in time. I didn't know who to call or where to go initially. I dumped my bag out at the gateway, trying to find someone's phone number to call. I called my agent, because she was the one phone number I had memorized.
DIGEST ONLINE: Did you screentest with Eddie Cibrian (Cole)?
HESKIN: No, I believe Eddie was doing his CBS TV movie, so I tested with Tim Adams (Casey). He was so great, just the nicest guy. It was very comforting to work with him.
DIGEST ONLINE: Is it difficult being a recast or was that not even on your mind?
HESKIN: No, it was difficult at first, just because I wasn't sure what exactly was expected of me. And there was a rather intricate storyline around my character at the time, so it took me awhile to understand all the pieces of it. Now, I've been working a couple of weeks, things are going well and I'm feeling at home.
DIGEST ONLINE: Did you watch any of Vanessa Dorman's (ex-Caitlin) work?
HESKIN: I had seen a couple of Sunset Beach tapes. At the time I had gotten the part, I hadn't watched daytime because I've been so busy during the day. Then because this all happened so fast, I didn't have the time to watch to even watch the tapes I had received. Now, since I've moved here, I haven't even had a TV. [Laughs] My stuff hasn't come yet, and I haven't even seen my own work. But I do want to see the show from before I came on, too. That's important to me.
DIGEST ONLINE: Who has been particularly key in helping you learn the ropes of daytime?
HESKIN: All the different castmembers. Initially, I was working with Sarah Buxton [Annie], and she was very helpful. I've also spoken with Sam Behrens [Gregory] about the whole experience, because he has a lot of experience under his belt. Everyday I seem to work with veteran actors who help me out, like just yesterday I worked with Kathleen Noone [Bette]. She was talking to me about the character, and giving me advice.
DIGEST ONLINE: Are you a soap watcher?
HESKIN: I was hooked on Days Of Our Lives for years. In college, Days was the big show everybody watched. I watched a lot of primetime soaps, too, and have always been a big fan of Melrose Place and Beverly Hills, 90210.
DIGEST ONLINE: And now you're working for Aaron Spelling, too! You did a feature film with John Woo, who directed Broken Arrow and Face Off. What was that experience like?
HESKIN: It was a two hour movie pilot [called "Blackjack"] that was released theatrically everywhere else but here. Here it was released on video, but it'll be on TV in August. John Woo is a wonderful person. He's a very hard worker and very respectful and easy to talk to. When he talks, everyone listens.
DIGEST ONLINE: Anybody in your family an actor?
HESKIN: My mom was always an actress, up until she decided to marry and have kids. She traveled to Korea with the USO. She was Miss Montana. She was always big into theater. My dad is the opposite. He has an engineering and architecture degree.
DIGEST ONLINE: So did you get the acting bug from your mom?
HESKIN: I think it was. My mom has always been so expressive and artistic. In elementary school, she was always the one to help us put on the plays at our school. She always included us in that kind of stuff. She also read lots of stories to us. I think a lot of [why I became an actor] was because of her.
Sam Behren's Chat Transcript
(courtesy of SOD)
SODhost: Sam has joined us. Welcome, Sam!
SAM BEHRENS: Hello!
BeaTruman asks: What can we expect after the earthquake hits?
SAM BEHRENS: Well that's hard to say, we haven't taped all that stuff yet. There is more tragedy than just the earthquake... actually kind of a lot, so one thing after another... What happens in the aftermath, nobody's sure right now, except maybe the writers! :)
Beachpie asks: Do you think that Gregory has any clue what Annie is really up to?
SAM BEHRENS: I think I wouldn't put anything past Gregory and I mean anything. He's really got the best of everyone... So without me knowing, it's a good bet that he knows what's going on.
Lesr58 asks: Are there times when you wish Gregory was not so mean?
SAM BEHRENS: Well, there are times when I make an effort not to make him a monster or a stereotyped bad guy because I think his motivations are honorable [but] his methods are all screwed up! He wants to maintain his family and make the best for them and all that sort of stuff.
CozyHammock asks: Why is Gregory so mean to Olivia when it's obvious he still cares for her?
SAM BEHRENS: I'm really pleased that there is a relationship there that is that so complex, because that really reflects life. We're all too easy to accept the black and white without the grays and so many people can look at [a couple] and say, "Why are they together?" There is a deep seeded love between Gregory & Olivia [Lesley-Anne Down], and they can't get past it. She drinks because of it and he does all sorts of other stuff. So I'm kinda glad that it's not that easy to pin down. And I think the audience really senses that they really still love each other.
Marycrj asks: Mr. Behrens, how does Gregory like being married to Annie? I am sure you make those scenes fun, as I've heard you're the resident jokester.
SAM BEHRENS: Who told you! It's great working with Sarah [Buxton] because she loves having fun, too... I kinda think it's the same way for Gregory, he gets a kick out of Annie because she's just like him. She's conniving and gets what she wants, is a lot of fun and is exciting and has an incredible body... she's a lot like Gregory! [Laughs] For me to say that and be on a show that has a lot of incredible bodies, everyone has to know I'm joking, okay?!
Maria913 asks: Do you think Gregory will ever be nice to A.J.?
SAM BEHRENS: Well, there's a tough one... Their rivalry goes way back to college days, probably back to elementary school. It's deep-seeded. They may see moments, hints of compassion for each other, but I don't think they'll ever be friends.
SunsetBeachAna asks: Do you think Gregory Jr. looks more like you or Cole?
SAM BEHRENS: I think he looks more like Aaron Spelling... Oh Gregory Jr., I'm sorry... thought you were talking about Sean [Randy Spelling]. ;-) I am suspect about this baby, because although he looks like Gregory, he's starting to develop these two little dimples in his cheeks, so I don't quite understand it. :D We have a lot of fun with Eddie's [Cibrian, Cole] dimples... I'm sure the women out there would love to have fun with Eddie's dimples, too.
Stella_7997 asks: Are you guys going to be finding out that Caitlin's baby is really Olivia's anytime soon?
SAM BEHRENS: I want to be watching when Gregory finds out... if he does... I think it's going to depend on-- My notion is that if he finds out he's going to assume it's him. He's going to feel betrayed. If it turns out this child is Cole's then I wouldn't want to be around for the fireworks, I wouldn't want to know what Gregory would do.
Oohay57 asks: Is Gregory accepting Cole or is he just preparing another attack?
SAM BEHRENS: Personally I don't know the answer, but knowing Gregory, he's not somebody who gives up easily, so I would think he's posturing for another attack.
LeFemmeSA asks: Where were you born?
SAM BEHRENS: In a hospital! ;-) I was born in Brooklyn, New York.
Lesr58 asks: Sam, what does your wife, Shari, think about your role?
SAM BEHRENS: I think she's kinda getting used to it. When we were dating, when our relationship was in its youth, I was doing Knots Landing and she swore she saw a side of me that scared her! So know she knows that I'm not going to wake up one morning and take out a machine gun, but I think she likes Gregory. Sometimes, I think she'd like me to be more like Gregory, and it pisses me off!
PeacefulPenguin asks: As the ultimate psycho villain on Knots Landing, you were superb! Did you enjoy tormenting Joan van Ark and the others?
SAM BEHRENS: Well, I didn't personally enjoy tormenting Joan Van Ark [Val], I loved working with her, but I loved being tormenting to those people. It was a lot of fun. They enjoyed it, too. I had the most fun with Ted Shackleford [Gary]! [Once] I had to break his arm with a bat! And we had great fun with those scenes. See when little boys grow up, they like to beat each other up while women like to dress up and put makeup on.
BeaTruman asks: Okay, gotta know, was it difficult shooting the dead drowned Danny shot on Knots?
SAM BEHRENS: That was one of the toughest days, 'cause I was in the water all day and we shot it 8 different ways because of all the different suspects. It was one of the toughest workdays, but a lot of fun. I just heard an interview with Charlton Heston and he said "Movie making is not fun, it's not meant to be fun, you work endless hours a day, in God knows what location" and I disagree, I think it's lots of fun.
Charlie24t asks: You had great chemistry with Barbara Mandrell, it seemed like Gregory and Alex had some steamy backstory, and then she disappeared. What's up with that?
SAM BEHRENS: I don't know. I don't know if this is so... Barbara is a doll and I'm sure she has her favorite soaps and she wanted to make a change into acting and she came into the wildest medium in entertainment. Daytime is an endless amount of work, an hour a day, it's a madhouse and though she never showed signs of it, maybe she put her foot in the water and it was too cold, I don't know, I wasn't behind the scenes, but we got along great and had a good time.
Beachpie asks: You did a wonderful job when Gregory Jr. died. What was the hardest part about doing those scenes?
SAM BEHRENS: The hardest part in acting ever is making circumstances real. That's what I think. It's so hard [that] a lot of actors don't do it. I don't think that actors are as moving as when they're moved themselves and it was pointed out to me as a variation on an Aristotle quote, "There's nothing better than watching an actor who's going through what he seems to be going through." That's the hardest part. It's a lot of work, it takes a lot to do [it]. I think the closer you get to that the better the product. I mean, I've never lost a child, so the only thing left to me is my imagination. It's a powerful tool but it takes a lot of imagining to get to that. A lot of actors will remember the day their girlfriend lost them, or the day their dog died, but it's so much more when you imagine and believe you're going through what the character is going through. It's a lot of work. Acting is simple, but it's not always easy.
Charlie24t asks: Will Gregory have a baby with Annie?
SAM BEHRENS: You mean will Annie have a baby with Gregory. Gregory's had a few babies with Annie; she took over a jet plane, I think he had a baby then! I don't know I think looking from the outside in, I think they're going to get a lot of mileage off the Gregory/Annie/Olivia thing for a while. I guess we'll see when the contracts are up for re-negotiation ;-)
SuBeGal asks: Sam, how did you get into this business?-Jess
SAM BEHRENS: I don't really know. I don't think I could've done anything else. Not that I couldn't if I wanted to, but I don't think I'd be happy doing anything else.
Diva_134 asks: Will we be seeing any new surprises coming up for Gregory anytime soon?
SAM BEHRENS: You know I was about to get on the Internet and find that out myself! ;) If you know, the best thing to do is keep going around and around and around... Gregory's mean, then you see a light at the end of the tunnel... You just play that as long as possible.... So, yeah, there will be surprises coming up.
Maya_May25 asks: Would you rather play a bad guy or a good guy?
SAM BEHRENS: Oh well... I would like to play a whole human being, whether it's good or bad. That's what I like to do. I like exposing humanity and the human condition. I would hate to play either if I had to be the stereotypical good guy, because good guys do bad things and I would hate to be a stereotypical bad guy, because bad guys do good things. I really want to express the whole person.
Oohay57 asks: Do you or Sarah actually know how to fly a plane?
SAM BEHRENS: Well, Sarah I think knows how to fly, but I don't think it has to do with planes... and has nothing to do with anything illegal either! She's got a very free spirit. I used to be a pilot, I actually knew how to fly the jet that Gregory and Annie were on.
NotRoebuck asks: SAM are you a true clotheshorse like on the show or more of a JEANS kinda guy?
SAM BEHRENS: You gotta talk to other people... I don't know. I'm surprised when people say my clothes match. Every once in a while, I make an effort. All I see is a lot of people laughing when I walk down the halls, I don't know what that means.
_Aurora_14 asks: Do you watch the show at all? Even though you do some of it... Do you ever watch yourself?
SAM BEHRENS: I go through periods of watching and not watching... it's difficult to watch. I know actors who watch themselves and say "Ooh that was good." It's almost like hearing yourself on a tape recorder, but you're seeing everything.
Salem_girl_Kim21 asks: Is Sunset Beach going to be cancelled? Please say no.
SAM BEHRENS: No, I don't think it will. I think it has a really good chance of sticking around. It's the only new and promising thing on the board, and I know the intent of everyone involved is to make it better and better and better. We have a great cult following, and great fans. I have a cousin in college and he says all they talk about is Sunset Beach. This is not said disparagingly, but the soaps we have are old soaps and have the same stuff and I think that's why younger kids have taken to our show. I think what's interesting about the show is what could be.
Aprilrogers asks: How is Sunset Beach different from the other shows you have been on?
SAM BEHRENS: Well it's new, it's green, it hasn't been lost in the mold of habit and you know you start off a show, it has to find its own way, its own legs to stand on. When you walk into an established show, you have to find you niche -- the building's already there.
Beachpie asks: Is there anything that you would do that Gregory would not be caught dead doing?
SAM BEHRENS: LOL... I'm much sillier than Gregory is. I'm sillier in love. I have a license plate that reflects my love for my wife, I mean, Gregory would never do that. We talk baby talk, and Gregory would never do that with Olivia! Maybe they should... Hmmm...
DebAZ071508 asks: Since leaving GH have you kept up with Bobbie's many husbands?
SAM BEHRENS: LOL... Well they're all friends of mine, so who is there but Brad [Maule, Tony]? Well Stephen's [Nichols, Stefan] a friend of mine. Brad's a friend of mine... I should have dinner with these guys and we'll talk about our ex-wife. The group at GH was just terrific. I can see Jackie [Zeman, Bobbie] after not seeing her for years and it's like it was then... same with Brad, Tony Geary [Luke], Kin Shriner [Scotty, PC]. It was quite a group. Demi Moore [ex-Jackie] was part of that group at one time, John Stamos [ex-Blackie], Jack Wagner [ex-Frisco, now Peter on Melrose]...
Lesr58 asks: What do you like to do in your spare time when not acting?
SAM BEHRENS: Mostly like to play golf. And play with my computer.
NotRoebuck asks: I hear you are a big golfer. WHO would you like to play golf with Pres. Clinton, Tiger Woods, or Jack Nicklaus?
SAM BEHRENS: Wow. Wow... Well, let's make it a foursome. I don't know if I'd like to play golf with Tiger Woods, maybe he's different playing casually, but to play with a pro, it would be a lesson in concentration and focus. I'm sure [it would be] the same with Jack Nicklaus. So I guess if I were playing with the President we wouldn't have to worry about anyone else on the course with all those secret service men... and Bill Clinton would probably let his hair down. I didn't say zipper did I? And I'm sure Tiger and Jack would, too... I did meet Arnold Palmer once. I guess playing with Tiger he wouldn't be talking too much. I'd love to caddy for Tiger Woods.
Maya_May25 asks: Who do you see as a mentor or role model? Why did you choose them?
SAM BEHRENS: The first name that pops up is Spencer Tracy and it's probably because he was so real all the time. You watch his movies and, I don't care how old you are, what era you're from, you can't take your eyes off him. He doesn't look like a movie star, he has none of that going for him, but he's just exquisite in all he does. There are more modern day ones, like Robert Duvall. Even in what little he did in Deep Impact he was phenomenal. Even in that last instance when that woman says to him, "It was a pleasure serving under you," his short response was done very simply and just the way that guy would do it and that's remarkable. We should all be approaching it that way. And because he did it so simply, to me, it was so moving.
SB_Heat_98 asks: I heard that you play a lot of pranks on your castmates. Which one to this date was your favorite?
SAM BEHRENS: I can't say. 'Cause I did one on Lesley Anne, and she loved it, but I can't say... I'm surprised that I didn't get fired for it! She's got a great sense of humor.
Aprilrogers asks: In what ways are you like Gregory?
SAM BEHRENS: We're about the same height and size... ;-)
SB_Heat_98 asks: What's your favorite food?
SAM BEHRENS: I tend more to have a favorite dish at each restaurant I like to frequent. So my wife and I are going to this Italian restaurant tonight and I will have the same dish I always have, Veal Parmigian. They make the best Veal Parmigian that I've ever had. There's a restaurant in NY that I don't know is still around, but they were the best. I still get kidded every time I go in, "What are you going to have???" And it's not always the same, sometimes a different appetizer!
Beachpie asks: Who is at the brunt of most of your pranks?
SAM BEHRENS: It's not so much pranks that I pull as just have a lot of fun on the set. Eddie Cibrian and I go at it a lot.. Lesley-Anne and I have a lot of fun. We'll pull something different that's not the lines... put some prop somewhere it's not to be. Eddie has a great sense of humor too, he's fun to play with.
Marycrj asks: How do you like your scenes with Kathleen Noone? I just love to see the banter between your characters.
SAM BEHRENS: Kathleen Noone [Bette] -- it's like working with Katherine Hepburn, she is just the ultimate professional. If you like the banter, it's because there's banter there. Kathleen just takes it and gives it right back. She's terrific. There's a reason she has such a long career.
Oohay57 asks: Can you tell us any of the victims of the "Shockwave"?
SAM BEHRENS: No. :-D
Lesr58 asks: Of all the soaps you have starred in, which soap is your personal favorite?
SAM BEHRENS: Well, I've yet to star in one, but I only did three. I mean, I did Ryan's Hope way back for year, can't count that.. did 4 years on GH, and now... I consider myself lucky -- with all the junk that goes on in this business -- to be able to work with people who are talented and professional. I've been fortunate on GH, Sunset Beach and Knots Landing... I've heard horror stories and it wouldn't be worth the money and taking blood pressure medicine to have to deal with that.
Maya_May25 asks: What do you think is Gregory's ultimate flaw?
SAM BEHRENS: His strength and his weakness is probably the same... the lengths he will go to to get what he wants. Sociopathy comes in when he doesn't see anything wrong with it and thinks he's doing the right thing for his family.
NotRoebuck asks: Hmmm... Why do you take so much crap off of BETTE? Does she have something on Gregory?
SAM BEHRENS: I think their relationshhip goes back and I think that everybody has that kind of relationship with someone who can say [anything]. Back in the days of king there were jesters who could say anything... that was their job... they could say anything to the king. Now Bette is not the court jester, but she's one of the only people who can say the truth to Gregory.
MissKim1011 asks: Any other projects coming up other than Sunset Beach?
SAM BEHRENS: Sunset Beach takes up 26 hours a day, 8 days a week.
_Aurora_14 asks: Do you think Gregory will stay with Annie?
SAM BEHRENS: I don't know if they'll stay together and stay married, but I think they'll always have a soft spot for one another, if soft spot is the right word...
Maria_joy asks: Where did you film all the Earthquake scenes at?
SAM BEHRENS: All were done at the studio.
SB_Heat_98 asks: I heard you're good friends with Peter Barton [ex-Eddie]. Who else do you enjoy playing golf with?
SAM BEHRENS: Let's see... Eddie, Clive [Robertson, Ben] and that's the usual... I used to enjoy playing golf with Gary [Tomlin], the producer, but he's too busy lately... I can't imagine why? ;-)
Clouds16270 asks: This isn't a question, but I want to let you know that I totally love Sunset Beach and I think you are such a great actor!! But I wish your character didn't divorce Olivia, you guys were meant to be together.
SAM BEHRENS: Well, I'm glad you see that. A lot of us feel that way. So who knows? I don't think their relationship is over yet... And thank you.
Jo_Vin asks: Do you think that Gregory will ever repair his relationship with his son, Sean?
SAM BEHRENS: You know that snotty little kid... How ungrateful can you be ;-)... I think there's a lot of stuff they have to get through for that to happen and relationships like that usually... well one of three things happen. Nothing happens, they die hating each other and that's it... or they come to an understanding and realize what's important in life, or they go through some kind of epiphany either separately or together and brings them closer. All I know is that I had a great time slapping him, and his father Aaron called me to thank me... No, I'm kidding ;-)
NIKEGIRL321 asks: Is it really cold shooting on the beach?
SAM BEHRENS: Not for me. I always have my clothes on. :-D But I feel for some of these guys and girls who have to put on a bathing suit at 5 or 6 in the morning and go in that cold Pacific Ocean. That can't be fun.
CozyHammock asks: Sam, what's your favorite movie?
SAM BEHRENS: Oh my... Well the first thing that comes to my mind is my very favorite, It's a Wonderful Life.
Maya_May25 asks: What do you consider is your greatest achievement?
SAM BEHRENS: Ooh... I guess the fact that I'm not in jail somewhere now. I'm kidding about it, but I'd have to say My Self. But I know that sounds narcissistic... but where I came from and I guess I'm proud of myself for going the right way.
_Aurora_14 asks: Who do you think Gregory loves more? Annie or Olivia?
SAM BEHRENS: Oh, Olivia.
Jamie324563 asks: What do you think you would be doing if you weren't acting?
SAM BEHRENS: I don't know. I suppose I'd be doing something in show business, but I don't know what it would be.
NotRoebuck asks: Gregory has a slight mean streak. Was he ever abusive to Olivia or just threatening to her?
SAM BEHRENS: I don't think he ever hit her. But I think he was, yeah, emotionally abusive.
SBcool asks: What will happen to your character once you find out that your baby is still alive and Annie stole him?
SAM BEHRENS: Well, I don't know. I imagine they're going to have to take my hands off of her neck.
Spiral_Equator asks: Waiting for the big one tomorrow.
SAM BEHRENS: I'm looking forward to it, too. There was a lot of time spent on it, I'm anxious to see it, too. It's going to be an event.
SODhost: Thank you, Sam! And thank you all for joining us!
SAM BEHRENS: I hope everyone's having as much fun with the show as we are doing it! Thanks for chatting tonight!
Sarah Buxton Chat Transcript
TVGEN: Welcome to the TVGEN/Yahoo! Chat Auditorium. Our special guest tonight is Sunset Beach's Sarah Buxton. Sarah plays the impulsive, unpredictable and scheming Annie Douglas, a sexy poor little rich girl. Welcome Sarah. Glad you could join us tonight.
Sarah Buxton: Thank you for having me, I think it's going to be a fun chat!
Sarah: Describe yourself in three words. Your character in three words as well.
Buxton: OK. Myself: strong, weak and sensitive. Annie is manipulative, strong and cunning.
Drea2178: What is it like to play someone evil?
Buxton: Well, it's actually kind of fun. The truth is you do things you normally wouldn't do in your real life. A lot of it's make believe. So I just take it as fun.
Salem_girl_Kim21: Sarah, if Annie could have any guy on Sunset Beach, who would you like her to have?
Buxton: I would like Annie to have Hank Cheyne who plays Ricardo. Because I think he's the hottest guy on Sunset Beach. With all due respect to his wife!
Bighhfan45: How does it feel working with all those cute guys?
Buxton: Well, there's never a dull moment. And it's really pleasing to the eyes.
Lesr58: Sarah, can you fly an airplane like Annie?
Buxton: Unfortunately, no. And when my Dad saw that episode he laughed hysterically because I'm actually afraid of heights.
TheJavaWeb: Sarah, is Kathleen Noone a lot like her character Bette?
Buxton: Yes and no. I mean she's very loving and caring and upbeat like that. But she's not as out there.
Sarah: What are your thoughts on the "Shockwave" storyline?
Buxton: I'm really excited about it, because it gives Sunset Beach a blockbuster movie feel, with a lot of stunts and event-oriented things. It's sort of flashy with a lot of suspense. It gives us a really exciting summer, and you too!
Diva_134: Why does Annie always act like she does? Does it have to do with something bad from the past?
Buxton: I think Annie acts in the manipulative way she does because she wasn't given enough love when she was young. She doesn't have very many parental figures in her family so she's just sort of made her own way. But she really doesn't mean to intentionally hurt people. She just gets scared at the last minute and makes rash decisions.
Salem_girl_Kim21: Do you ever have really embarrasing moments on the set?
Buxton: Yes. And that question is my least favorite, because I always forget them. But I know I've turned beet red and been embarrassed many times! It's most embarrassing when you completely forget your lines, and if you sit down and your dress rips, or if little accidents happen. They can be very embarassing. You can trip on something or fall off your shoes or something like that.
PurplePumpkinPie: Who is the jokester on the set?
Buxton: I have to say Eddie Cibrian. Eddie and Sam Barrons. And we're planning to get Eddie back for sure. As a group.
Howdy_dooody: Hi Sarah, first of all I think you are a great actress and should have gotten the soap award, but anyways my question is: How did you get into acting?
Buxton: Thank you for such a nice compliment. I was in the market with my Mom and someone tapped me on the shoulder, and they became my manager and put me in acting school. I started doing commercials and TV guest spots. It's a Schwab's story.
TheJavaWeb: I loved you in Fast Getaway 2. How did you like starring in a movie?
Buxton: Well, I wasn't the star; Cory Haim was. I was sort of the costar. But it was fun because you were with the story from beginning to end. We shot that in Arizona. I had met Cory before so we had a really good time together, and I liked shooting out of town, in Phoenix. It was fun to be away.
Hugesbfan: So can you give us any clues to what's going to happen in upcoming shows?
Buxton: There is a lot of destruction and confrontation with Olivia on air over the next month. Olivia and Annie will actually be trapped together, so there are a lot of fireworks.
SBYF22: Who's your best friend on the set? Are you and Lesley-Anne Down actually good friends?
Buxton: Lesley and I are good friends. I tend to be good friends with the people I'm actually working with, because you spend so much time with those people. I was good friends with Vanessa Dorman, who's not there any more. And Susan Ward.
CSUSigEP: What other actresses and actors do you enjoy watching or even working with for that matter?
Buxton: I love working with Sam Behrens and Lesley-Anne Down. That's who I'm currently in the storyline with. They are great actors to play off of, and they also keep me laughing. And I miss my storyline with Kathleen Noone but I'm sure it will come back again.
SBPub: Sarah, what is the story I heard about all the photos on your dressing room door?
Buxton: Well, one day I taped Sam Behrens's picture up on my door. to let him know how much he means to me. Then every day following there seems to be a new picture from one of the male members of the cast or crew. And they all say very interesting things! And if you get up close enough, you'll get a chance to see. And Lesley is the exception. She posted a picture up too. And also someone stole the picture of Hank because it was too sexy and we don't know who, but Hank posted another picture just yesterday that was even sexier.
Sarah: Do you ever go online and check out SB sites and chat rooms? Congrats on your official page!
Buxton: Oh, thank you on the congrats! Chris is the person who made it and he's a very talented young man. I do sometimes check out the message boards and the sites, not that often but occasionally. It's fun to eavesdrop.
PurplePumpkinPie: Hi Sarah. I really enjoy your performance in Sunset Beach. Have you taken any acting classes or does it come naturally to you?
Buxton: Thank you. I've taken acting classes since I was 14. All the years out of work I sort of filled in with class so I was always acting. I love to act. So if I'm not being paid to act, I'll pay to do it!
Lesr58: Sarah, what happened to Annie's father, and why does she go to the underworld to meet him?
Buxton: At the beginning of SB, her father was mysteriously killed and Annie was falsely accused of murdering him. But he was actually killed by Elaine. And Annie goes to visit him in hell for advice, because he's always watching her. And also he has the rights to her inheritance, and he's advising her how to get it.
MSandner: Sarah, do you like to watch yourself on Sunset Beach?
Buxton: No! But I enjoy watching SB. Not that I dislike watching myself, but it's hard. Sometimes I get a kick out of the storylines, and I get a kick over how it comes off. Or sometimes if there is a particular scene I enjoyed doing I'll check it out. But mainly I watch to watch everybody else.
MSandner: Sarah, now that Emily's been revealed to be Bette's daughter, will there be a power struggle for Bette's love? BTW, great Cat on a Hot Tin Roof scene!
Buxton: Thank you very much. I'm sure there will be a big power struggle for Aunt Bette's love.
Silver_Screen: I loved your fantasy revenges and such. Which was your favorite? Why?
Buxton: The one we filmed today was my favorite. It's a western theme, sort of a Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. Everyone gangs up on Annie. It's going to air on Wednesday Aug. 12.
PurplePumpkinPie: I noticed that you guest starred on Baywatch. What was that experience like?
Buxton: I always wanted to be on Baywatch, just once! It turned out to be very nice. The storyline was really camp: I got eaten by a gigantic Portuguese man o' war.
Oneweeker: What's up with Baywatch? Has Hasselhoff lost it?
Buxton: Sorry to say, I wouldn't know. But I think they probably have a few years left.
SunsetBeachLover: What has been your favourite scene? I liked it when you flushed your father's ashes down the toilet.
Buxton: I thought that was very funny myself and that scene sticks in mind, and I recently went scuba diving with the sharks and I referenced that scene while scuba diving. My scuba diving trip will air on Fox News in L.A. next week.
Daisychic20: This whole "baby" thing is getting nuts! Is Katlin ever going to find out that you stole her mother's baby?
Buxton: I don't know; the actors are the last people to know. I only know about a week ahead.
PurplePumpkinPie: If you were to change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Buxton: Hmmm. I would want to have straight hair. I have naturally curly hair.
SBYF22: There have been rumors going around that Sunset Beach is going to go off NBC. Any truth or not to that? I hope not because we all love it.
Buxton: Well thank you for loving SB. I also doubt it will go off the air. We may be low in the ratings but I think NBC has faith in us.
MSandner: Sarah, which storyline other than yours do you enjoy? What's your thoughts on the Monica/Sara connection for SB?
Buxton: I enjoy the Virginia/Vanessa storyline. I think it's really fun that they are doing something that's a current event.
Dtr613: The scenes between you and Olivia are so funny at times. Do the two of you just start cracking up ever?
Buxton: All the time! In fact, this last week we've had to try very hard not to laugh. Not that we don't take it seriously, but like you said, it's very funny. Sometimes we have to turn away from each other.
Silver_Screen: What was it like the first time you were recognized as Annie? Where were you?
Buxton: I was at a Taco Bell on my way to Palm Springs. And these girls started screaming to the drive-thru, "Oh My God, there's Annie! You're so mean, you're so bad!" And it was really strange.
Aels45: Was it fun filming the scenes for the upcoming earthquake storyline?
Buxton: It was fun, and it was very dusty and dirty. I actually got a few real cuts, but no major injuries. Except when Olilvia punched my face. Just kidding.
TheJavaWeb: I have heard about Tim and Jason's "Clubhouse" dressing room. What's it like in there?
Buxton: Well, I've been into that dressing room before, and you don't want to go in there unless you're feeling real good about your body, if you're a girl. A lot of babes on the wall.
Chattin_annie: Do you watch any other soap operas? If so, which ones?
Buxton: I actually don't have time to watch other soaps, because I'm working during the day. But sometimes I watch DOOL because I get it on my TV in the dressing room.
SBcool: Sarah, I saw you on a workout TV program a while back. You were doing exercises in a pool. Was it a good workout? Does it work?
Buxton: Actually it does work. I thought it was a really good workout and I recommend it, because it doesn't injure your knees or your joints.
Sarah: Have you ever heard of a group called SOS (Support Our Sunset)?
Buxton: Yes, I have. I was at the latest event in Burbank. And I really appreciate the SOS!
Louis1187: Isn't it pretty cool that your intials are S.B. and the same letters are the same on Sunset Beach?
Buxton: Hey, I thought nobody would notice! Thank you for noticing. I think it's cool!
JuStAbUsT: Hi Sarah! How much longer do you think you will stay on Sunset Beach? If you ever leave who would take your spot?
Buxton: Hi, JustaBust. Well, I'll stay as long as they'll have me I think. I'm such a bad girl that — you never know. Who would replace me? I don't know. Any suggestions?
Alp96aj65: What is the hardest thing about working on a soap opera?
Buxton: Memorizing all those words every single day. Just when you think you've finished for that day, you have to go home and learn the next day.
Oohay57: I like how your character always goes to outrageous lengths to get what she wants. Do you think Annie will ever settle down?
Buxton: I doubt it. Annie is just very, very extreme. And I don't think she likes the easy way out.
Hanson_rocks: Do you have any advice for people who want to get started in the business of acting? (julie, Vancouver BC Canada, 16)
Buxton: I say stay in acting class because it's good to have training. I've worked in Canada before and there's a lot of parts to start on, because they do a lot of American productions in Vancouver. I was on 21 Jump Street there and I made a movie called Listen there.
SBYF22: I've heard that Timothy Adams doesn't like underwear. Can you bring any truth to this? What are some other funny cast member traits?
Buxton: Well, it's true, Timothy Adams doesn't wear underwear. And Hank Cheyne likes to wear sarongs. That's all I can think of.
Sonny_Cat: Would you ever quit acting to do something like, talk show host?
Buxton: No. I wouldn't. I've never thought about it, except yesterday I hosted all these satellite interviews and it was fun. It was the first time I ever thought about hosting.
Sugarcubes_1000: do you play Annie on Sunset Beach?
Buxton: I'm not an actress; I'm a comedy writer here. I just play an actress on TV.
TVGEN: Thanks for joining us tonight, Sarah. And yes, it is the real Sarah Buxton here with us tonight.
Buxton: Thank you for chatting. I hope we can do it again soon. Your questions were really fun, and sorry I couldn't get to everyone.
RANDY SPELLING INTERVIEW
8/20: Sunset Beach's Randy Spelling
SODhost: Sunset Beach's Randy Spelling (Sean) has joined us. Welcome, Randy!
RANDY SPELLING: Hey everybody! Thanks for loggin' on!
Hannah_18_99: Do you like the way your storylines have been going lately???
RANDY SPELLING: Yeah. I'm getting a chance to have a love interest... a love story.
MaEgAn_C: Did the whole "Shockwave" thing scare you?
RANDY SPELLING: Did it scare me? No. Actually it was incredibly fun to tape.
MHSC_Sean: Is there any chance of an Emily/Sean/Leo triangle?
RANDY SPELLING: Most definitely :-)
SuBe_Fan: If Sean could be with any one woman in Sunset Beach, who would you want it to be?
RANDY SPELLING: I think it would be interesting if I was with Annie... I think because she's always plotting and I'm Gregory's son.. it would be pretty amusing.
Dtr613: Is Sarah Buxton anything like Annie?
RANDY SPELLING: No, she's really sweet in real life, not that Annie's not sweet, but you know...
MHSC_Sean: Most important Question: Where is Spike?
RANDY SPELLING: LOL... Spike is a guest star, he comes on every once in a while. I don't think he's contracted :)
LilJax383: Do you have a girlfriend? If you don't what do you look for in a girl?
RANDY SPELLING: No I don't have a girlfriend. I look for honesty and realness. Also someone who'll inspire me. Doesn't everyone?
M_Keegan: What can we do to keep Sunset Beach from being canceled?
RANDY SPELLING: Write a lot of letters and keep watching!
Silver_Screen: Congratulations on moving into 10th place!!! We know there is nothing but up to go!! Keep it up!
RANDY SPELLING: Thank you very much!
ChrisJCH: Randy what do you think of other actors your own age in Hollywood??
RANDY SPELLING: To tell you the truth, I don't really know that many actors my age.
SPUTNIK_001: HOW OLD ARE YOU?
RANDY SPELLING: 19 until October 9th.
M_Keegan: Do you ever go online?
RANDY SPELLING: No.
Levan1982: What kind of music do u listen?
RANDY SPELLING: Hip Hop... but I like all kinds except country. I like WuTang, Black Star, The Fugees, Organized Confusion, The Roots...
Dtr613: The earthquake/tsunami was AWESOME! Was it fun to shoot?
RANDY SPELLING: It was really really really fun. It was almost like filming a little movie.
kitten294: Was the water cold during the shooting?
RANDY SPELLING: No, actually it was warm. It was like a Jacuzzi.
MaEgAn_C: What is your biggest fear?
RANDY SPELLING: I don't let a lot of people know this but... spiders.
M_Keegan: Will you be doing a lovemaking scene with Emily in the near future?
RANDY SPELLING: God I hope so! LOL
CapricornGal26: Randy: What was your best birthday and why?
RANDY SPELLING: Hmmm.. my best birthday... Let me think about this one... I don't know, my parents really made it a habit to really make my birthday special. One year I had it at the Magic Castle when I was little. That was cool.
Lowri_Mai: Hi Randy I'm here with my two younger sisters, randy do you like to be fashionable or do you prefer to stick to your own individual style?
RANDY SPELLING: I stick to my own individual style. It's somewhat fashionable, but yeah, I'm definitely on my own individual style.
ChrisJCH: Do you ever want to move out of California?
RANDY SPELLING: You know what, for what I want to do in terms of the entertainment business, between TV, movies and music, this is the optimum place to be. But I would love to have a second home -- I'm sure everyone would -- to have a second getaway place, preferably somewhere tropical -- Maui or something.
ChrisJCH: I heard you write music. What type of music are you most interested in?
RANDY SPELLING: Hip Hop mainly. But I also write songs and poems every once in a while.
Silver_Screen: Do you still find time with your work schedule to jam with the band?
RANDY SPELLING: Oh, of course!
GhettoSupastarMya15: What were you like in high school? :)
RANDY SPELLING: Well, the early part of high school, junior high, I was a nerd :) I wasn't nerdy, I was just very non-fashionable. I had my hair parted to the side, I had braces.. :) And then in high school, I was just having fun with my friends, finding myself.
SmileyGrrl14: Hi, Randy! I watch Sunset Beach every day! I have two questions: Are Sean and Emily going to get more serious? And, can you shed any light on the cancellation crisis of an NBC soap opera? Thanks, and keep up the great work!
RANDY SPELLING: First thanks for watching. I think our relationship is slowly moving in a more serious direction. I don't know anything about the show being canceled, but I hope it doesn't.
rvsistops: Did kids resent you when you were growing up, having such a famous and powerful father??
RANDY SPELLING: I think there was a little bit of jealousy and a little bit of just not understanding, you know?
Dtr613: Does Tori watch Sunset Beach? Does she love it as much as we all do?
RANDY SPELLING: When she can she does watch Sunset Beach, and when she does, she does love it. But she doesn't as much because of her work schedule.
Topaz2_97: Is Sean supposed to have a job currently? How does he get money? Do his parents still give it to him?
RANDY SPELLING: I don't know?!
Sea_breeze_sb: didn't you work w/Susan Ward [now Meg on Sunset Beach] on Malibu Shores?? Do you to have a good friendship??
RANDY SPELLING: Yeah, I did work with her on Malibu Shores. Susan and I have a really great friendship.
bjgib: Randy, will you be in any of the B.H. 90210 episodes as Steve's brother anymore?
RANDY SPELLING: Well actually they asked me to do one this year, they're just trying to work it out with Sunset Beach.
Josie_and_Randy_4_Ever: If You were abducted by Aliens they wanted to erase every memory you had except one, what would it be and why?
RANDY SPELLING: Wow... One memory... That's such a hard question. I can't even fathom... there's not just one! I have so many great memories. That's the one thing you have as a person, is great memories. [It's not] about money or anything.
MHSC_Sean: If you had to compare Sean to a fruit what fruit would he be?
RANDY SPELLING: LOL! I'm gonna pick a cantaloupe, because I think on the surface Sean has definitely developed into a strong character. He's hard on the outside, but deep down on the inside he's very soft, he has a lot of emotion for people that he likes.
ChrisJCH: Your sign is Libra that means loyal and fair do you think that describes your personality at all?
RANDY SPELLING: Yeah, I actually fifty percent follow the guidelines for Libra. I am balanced and I do have deep insights but some of the other stuff I don't really follow.
One_August: Do you have any pets?
RANDY SPELLING: Me personally? No... but my family, well my dad, does: there's five dogs, two birds and a lot of fish :) Boy does he love those fish -- and dogs -- they definitely take precedence over me. :)
BriggySmallz: Has Tori ever considered guest appearances on Sunset Beach?
RANDY SPELLING: No. I don't think so.
Magic567: What's your favorite food??
RANDY SPELLING: I love sushi. I could eat it twice a day
__talktomenow__: Okay, I'm sorry to do this to you, but I gotta ask, BOXERS OR BRIEFS?
RANDY SPELLING: Boxers.
timdaa: Will Sean ever find out about Trey actually being his brother instead of his nephew?
RANDY SPELLING: I think he might. I'm not sure, but I think it would put an interesting spin on things.
MAGZ__CELINE: What sports do you play ?
