Companionable Rats
Dumbo ear, standard and occasionally rex coated varieties are bred in Siamese, black, American blue, Russian blue and Russian silver. Colorpoint types are bred in sealpoint and several bluepoint varieties. These interrelated lines have been bred since 2000. Type has been good and the stocks are vigorous and friendly.
Adoptable pets or potential breeding or show animals are sometimes available as youngsters or occasionally as young adult rats. Selection for good type, pigmentation and temperament are my breeding goals. Health issues are tracked with a private database relating to background and extended family health history (presently about 2,900 individuals). This tracking enables better breeding choices in overall health, longevity and for excellent temperaments. Pedigrees are available on all individuals and can be quite extensive.
MW is the breeder prefix I use and is registered with the North American Rat Registry for all rats which are bred here. MW Rattery is a closed, quarantined colony and does not do rat rescue, as it is a serious health risk to a breeding colony. Breeding and rescue are not compatible and ethical interests in the rat world.

R.I.P. Cedric 1992- June 2, 2006
Cedric, PWC rescue - his only "crime" was to have outlived his owner. Forever a puppy at heart, an ambassador to his breed and my heart dog, often seeming to be attached with velcro. His kind and bigger than life demeanor was forever in the middle of everything aound him and he was a stranger to no one, human or animal. Cedric's companionship was an unforgettable life experience.
