The Metropolitan Miniature Fire Apparatus Association is a group of emergency vehicle model builders and collectors who reside in, but are not limited to, the Northern New Jersey and New York Metropolitan areas. The club was formed as a regional chapter of FAMBA, the Fire Apparatus Model Builders Association, in October of 1986 for modelers in the five boroughs of New York City, Long Island, Orange, Rockland, and Westchester Counties in New York, as well as New Jersey, and Southern Connecticut. At that time, there were four other regional chapters of FAMBA located in Southern New England, Boston, New York State and the Mid-West. When FAMBA disbanded in 1989, we continued as an independent club, opening our membership to modelers outside our primary coverage area.
We meet bi-monthly in various firehouses in Northern NJ, usually on the first Friday of the even months, and participate in several model shows throughout the year, such as the Newark Fire Historical Society Muster in June, the Firehouse Expo in Baltimore in July, in addition to others both in and out of state in conjunction with other clubs to name a few.
Annual dues are $10 which includes a subscription to All Hands Working, our bi-monthly newsletter with club happenings, meeting minutes and articles and news relevant to emergency vehicle model building and collecting.
Inquiries about the club and requests for a membership application are welcome from anyone who has an interest in fire, EMS or police vehicle model building or collecting. Please use the application link below or send an e-mail with your name, address and phone number or write to:
