Who We Are and What We Do
St. Thomas More Council 11490
St. Thomas More Council #11490 of the Knights of Columbus started forming
in the spring of 1994 and by the fall of 1994 we had obtained the thirty
members necessary to request a charter from the Supreme Council. On
January 9, 1995 our Council was officially chartered. Our first Grand
Knight was John W. Gregory, Jr.
Our meetings are held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at
7:30PM in the St. Thomas More Rectory Meeting Room. All Knights in
good standing are invited to attend.
Our Council participates in many Local, State and Supreme programs. We
conduct yearly; a Vocations Poster Contest with our CCD Students, a Youth
Basketball Free Throw contest, a Tootie Roll Drive for Retarded Citizens,
and a Roller Skating Party for the Parish. We also help with many Parish
functions, including the Parish Picnic, Parish Country Tag Sale, and finally
playing Santa Claus and all his helpers at the Parish Christmas Bazaar. We
also support the State's Special Olympics and Right to Life Programs.
We hold a Community Bake Sale, a Parish Spaghetti Dinner, a Parish Spring
Dinner-Dance, and a Parish Lenten Dinner. These and other activities help
us raise money to support Knights of Columbus programs at the Supreme, State
and Local level.
