There are many important benefits from banning motors and
these are enjoyed by all property owners and visitors to
Burnt Lake:
.The ban creates a peaceful, serene ambience for those
who truly want to get away from the hustle and bustle and
fast pace of urban life. The soft splash of a canoe paddle
does not make your heart race!
.Pollution from gasoline and oil -a significant problem in
other lakes- is eliminated. Peace and quiet are never
disturbed by the roar of boat motors.
.Clean, clear water. Combined with strict controls on other
pollutants such as soaps, solvents and pesticides, the motor
boat ban helps preserve water quality (Please see

.Boating is safe and so is swimming. We have all heard
the stories of swimmers hurt -and often killed- by boats with
propellers. Not on Burnt Lake -even babies can swim safely!
.Abundant wildlife. Studies show that power boats can
be a significant disruption to a lake's aquatic environment
and, particularly, its wildlife. On Burnt Lake loons can
nest safely without their nests being swamped by wakes.
Otters play in the water. Beavers swim peacefully at
dawn and dusk.
