These camouflage patterns are the result of a lot of laborious research and editing on my part. All of them are nearly exact matches of their real-life counterparts. Some of them have been edited slightly to contrast better in the game, such as Stairstep Camo 1, which actually has quite a bit more contrast in the action phase than the swatch suggests. For the most realistic appearance, many of them are actually grabbed off of photographs of real Russian uniforms. Yes, yes, I know some of the names are misleading...but these are the real names of the patterns. Don't ask me why. I'm still trying to find the best possible models to use in the game, and I may very well end up using the default "team_hrt" and "team_camo" models, simply because they're the easiest to implement. I mean, I'm sure you want all of the operatives to have unique faces, don't you? The way RSE has the actor files set up, I'm pretty much SOL if I want to use the actual Russian models, since I'd either have to stick with ONE kind of model or have everyone running around with the same cheesy default face. Of course, I could just have everyone wear balaclavas, but that'd be kind of boring, wouldn't it? It's not as bad as you'd think, since MVD equipment actually resembles its American counterparts vaguely, so some creative skinning should work some wonders. Then again, I'm gonna give it another whirl, since I REALLY want to use the Russian models. I guess some heavy use of balaclavas and camo face paint could sorta-kinda hide the fact that they all have the same face... |
