Ah, you've stumbled across my little niche in the Internet. The Rogue Spear Couturier is just the place for the commando with a discerning sense of fashion. After all, if you're going to risk life and limb for those ingrate hostages, you may as well look good in the process, eh?

No, this isn't really just another skin site. You won't find Intel bunny suits, Day-Glo camouflage jumpers, or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle skins for your Rainbow operatives here. This site is primarily for the High Resolution Replacement Skins Project, which is intended to create high resolution versions of the HRT skins that Rogue Spear shipped with. What's the point, you ask?

Well, the "team_hrt" skins that shipped with the game are approximately half the size of the skins for the "team_camo" models. As a result, there's a lot of stretching and blurring in the action phase as your video card strains mightily to wrap these itty bitty textures around the bulging musculature of your Rainbow operatives. Needless to say, it's hardly a pleasant visual experience.

At any rate, I've been annoyed by how messy the Street camouflage textures look once the video card's through flogging them through the pipeline. So I sat down one day with a copy of  Paint Shop Pro 6.01 and decided to see what I could do about it. I didn't want to create wholly new skins, since I'd be crossing the line into true mod territory, so I decided I'd try to be as faithful as possible to the original source images. Well, except for the Street 1 skins, I cheated a little on those by using this really nice blue pattern I saw at the local Army/Navy surplus store.

Somebody asked me once if these new skins would throw a brick through the framerate. The actual overhead's no worse than it is when using the "team_camo" skins, since the dimensions of the hi-res HRT skins are the same as the "team_camo" skins. So, the short form of the answer is no. However, you'll notice the details are a lot sharper and clearer than on the original skins.

Anyway, these skins are what I play Rogue Spear with. I figured I'd share them with anyone who may be interested.
