DENTAL DO'S & DON'T
Tooth Knocked out?
Save the tooth. Rinse it with tap water. Wrap in Gauze or tissue and place in mouth or milk to keep it moist. Call your dentist as soon as possible!
Don't think the situation is hopeless. Many times the tooth can be reimplanted! The sooner you see the dentist, the better.
Toothache?
Using warm water, rinse your mouth out thoroughly. Remove bits of food wedged between teeth with floss. If your mouth is swollen, apply cold compress to outside of cheek. Then place cotton (soaked in clove oil) in area.
Don't drink alcohol while taking pain pills. Don't place aspirin directly on tooth or gum. Dont place hot packs on area. Avoid sweets, and hot food. See your dentist as soon as possible.
Lose a Filling?
Temporarily protect your tooth from exposure by filling the area with bees wax. If you do not have bees wax, use sugar-free gum (if the gum isn't sugarless, it will cause pain.)
Don't eat crunchy, sweet or hot food or liquids. Don't prolong seeing your dentist. The longer you put this off, the worse things will get.
Teething Pain?
Usually cold objects help relieve the pain; cold teething ring, etc. Try teething ointments and/or firm finger massage.
Don't leave unsafe objects about that the child may naturally want to place in their mouth. Don't fret! Many have preceded you.
