Head Table Centerpiece Directions

Cut soaked floral foam to fit container.  Fit foam snugly into the container, leaving approximately one inch of foam above the rim of the container.
Anchor foam to container with waterproof tape.  Add water.

If arrangement features candles, insert in foam and secure with tape.  An alternative method is to place a plastic candle holder(s) in the foam, placing candle(s) in the holder(s).

    Pre-green the container:
1.    Cut two stems of foliage in half.  Use the two end pieces back-to-back to form a vertical cone in the center of the container.
2.    Place a stem of foliage on each side of the container to form the length of the centerpiece.
3.    Insert small pieces of foliage until the foam is lightly covered (Fig. 49-2).
STYLING THE ARRANGEMENT

Place a primary line flower on each end of the arrangement to determine the length of the arrangement.  Place one flower in the center of the container, approximately 1 1/2 times the height of the container to establish height.  Place primary flowers on each side to establish width (Fig. 49-3).
2. Insert additional primary flowers into the arrangement.  They should be spaced throughout, so that visual interest is evenly distributed (Fig. 49-4).
3.    Place secondary flowers to define shape and complete the design (Fig. 49-5).  All flowers should appear to radiate from the center of the container.
4.  All flowers should appear to radiate from the center of the container.  Place flowers at different depth levels to create interest (Fig. 49-6).
If desired, place filler flowers into the arrangement to fill space and help shape the centerpiece into the desired form.  Filler flowers should not extend above the top flowers and should be concentrated in the body of the arrange-ment.  Do not "overstuff" the arrangement.

5.Evaluate the design; adjust as needed.
