All About Us!
The Atlantic County SPCA is a nonprofit organization working to curb animal cruelty and abuse in Atlantic County. Our organization is comprised of 11 board members, all residing in Atlantic County. NONE OF THE BOARD MEMBERS ARE PAID; WE ARE NOT A COUNTY ENTITY. We are chartered by the New Jersey SPCA in New Brunswick to enforce the cruelty laws, without an SPCA in the county NOBODY would be helping the numerous animals left without shelter, food, vet care and in many cases water. We are available 24 hours a day for cruelty emergencies and have an agent on the road 6 days a week. Since we are not funded by anyone we depend entirely for generous donations, fine monies from persons found guilty of cruelty, and on occasional bequests. In addition we sponsor Santa Paws at the Shore Mall in December (have your pets picture taken with Santa), we also have an annual raffle, last year we had 19 winners, for a total of $4,000 in prizes. On March 13 we will again have the St. Patrick’s Day mixer, this will be our second year, we really had a great time last year. For information or tickets contact us at 927-9059 and we will be glad to give you the info. We do not operate a shelter. However, dogs that are removed from owner’s properties for lack of shelter, food or abuse are housed in foster care with the intent to place them if possible. We thoroughly screen all of our applicants to try to put dogs in homes where they will remain for the rest of their lives. All of our dogs are happy, healthy and friendly, they deserve a 2nd chance. But as you may or may not know placing an adult dog is not an easy task.
Some of our Projects!
The Atlantic County SPCA is run totally by volunteers. The only paid employee being our agent, who investigates all cruelty complaints. We also run a low-cost spay/neuter (1 of 3 in the tri-county area) clinic so that more people will alter their animals which in turn leads to fewer animals ending up in shelters. The clinic is for anyone needing our services. There are no income restrictions. For an application call (609)927-9059, we will ask you to send a business size self addressed, stamped envelope. After you complete this and return it to us we will schedule your pet within 30 days. You will leave the pet between 8 and 8:30am and pick them up late the same afternoon. Fees are: $25. male cat $40. female cat $50. male dog $55. female dog. Vaccines are available for $5. each (Rabies are a must unless you have proof of previous vaccine). Heartworm and feline leukemia tests are also available. We need local support in our animal placement as well as in the fight against cruelty and abuse. Please help us give these well deserving animals a 2nd chance.
