After some careful research for a location to display my work, I came upon the Dan River Art Market, located in Danbury, NC.  This is a jurried gallery which means that they look at my work as a whole before consideration is given to me for space in the gallery.  It was on this date that I recieved word that my work had been accepted into the DRAM, and this became the first day that my work was displayed in an actual gallery.  The pictures displayed here are the ones that were jurried in.   For an up to date catalog of available pieces, you can click here.

The Vivi Awards are hosted once a year to celebrate all AOL Journals.  There are many different categories where the journals compete.  My photographer's journal, Photo Trek was nominated in both the Best Use of Photography, and Most Educational categories.  After nearly 500 ballots were counted, Photo Trek emerged as the top journal when it comes to photography.  If you haven't visited Photo Trek, be sure to drop by and see what you have been missing.

The Hidden Falls was entered in the 2006 Dixie Classic Fair competition for fine arts.  This particular picture was entered in the Professional Color Photography Category.  The Hidden Falls brought home the blue ribbon for first place in this category.

The picture was created at Hanging Rock State Park on July 5, 2006.  You can read about the trip in Photo Trek.  The best part about this particular picture was that I had no intention of even visiting this particular fall on this day.  In hindsight, I am very glad that I did.

The actual framed print that was entered has been donated to Hanging Rock State Park, in Danbury, NC.  It can be viewed in the Visitor's Center.

Foggy Church in black and white was entered in the 2006 Dixie Classic Fair competition for fine arts.  This particular picture was entered in the Professional Black and White Photography Category.  This was my first attempt at a black and white entry and I was rewarded with a white ribbon for third place in this category.

The picture was created at Historic Bethabara Park in Winston-Salem, NC on April 17, 2006.  You can read about the trip in Photo Trek.  The picture was originally created in color, and is still available that way.  However, for the contest, I converted the image to  a black and white composition.  The fog still plays a very large part in the mood of this shot.

The actual framed print that was entered is available for sale for $95.00.  This will be on a first come, first served basis.

Appalachian Gold was my first attempt at a serious competition.  Number two of five of this limited edition print was entered in the Professional Color Category at the Dixie Classic Fair in Winston-Salem, NC.  Out of what appeared to be about 20 entries it was awarded third place.

This photograph was created at the Raven Rock scenic overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  The hazy sky was aided by both a graduated tobacco filter and a graduated neutral density filter to produce the yellow tones.
