Shooting Sports Project
Pusch Ridge Riders is a community 4-H club located in Pima County, Arizona. We are active in many projects including Shooting Education. The Shooting Sports Project currently participates in all six disciplines; archery, rifle, pistol, hunting, shotgun and muzzleloading. We have three age groups; sub-junior (9-11), junior (12-14) and senior (15-18). We participate in club, county, state and national 4-H shooting sports events. We also are involved in many community service projects and community shooting activities. The first 4-H Arizona State Team (shotgun) to compete in the 4-H Nationals was from the Pusch Ridge Riders 4-H Club. We have started the first Pima County 4-H Shooting Sports Team and are currently putting on a State wide postal shoot.

Pima County 4-H Shooting Sports Team
This team is open to any senior 4-H member (age 14 and older) from Pima County who is currently enrolled and an active participant in a Pima County 4-H Shooting Education Program conducted by a certified Arizona 4-H Shooting Education Instructor. Also, any Pima County 4-H Shooting Sports Leader interested in working with the Pima County Team is welcome.
This team is intended to provide shooting sports activities for the senior 4-H members and volunteer leaders in Pima County, Arizona. We have the resources to start with four disciplines: archery, rifle, pistol and shotgun.
We will eventually have a team in every discipline to participate in 4-H and other community shooting sports.

Grand Canyon State Postal Shoot
This Postal Shoot has a competition event for every discipline that Arizona 4-H Shooting Education participates in. It also has a decathlon type event where you may participate in all six disciplines, for additional awards, at the same time. This event is not intended to be a fundraiser and an expanded award program will be used. We will use patches instead of ribbons and medals instead of plaques or trophies with the Danish group system. Grand Canyon State 4-H shooting events are for the enjoyment and education of Arizona 4-H members.
Southern Arizona Firearms Educators (SAFE) will again sponsor this event. This group has long been a sponsor of 4-H in Pima County, I cannot say enough good things about them, and we are very fortunate to have them sponsor the Grand Canyon State Postal Shoot. They will provide the overall winner award in each age group.
Because this is not a fundraiser all entry fee money not used to cover expenses will be used for awards. High individuals, in each age group in each discipline, will receive medals based upon the number of entries in their age group. If you compete in all six disciplines you will also be competing for an overall gold medal with purple ribbon and the overall award. The medals are one of a kind cast just for this 4-H event.
This event is open to any 4-H member from Arizona who is currently enrolled and an active participant in a 4-H Shooting Education Program conducted by a certified Arizona 4-H Shooting Education Instructor. The age groups are sub-junior (9-11), junior (12-14) and senior (15-18). We are currently not using a team format so the competition is individual.
If you would like to participate in the annual Grand Canyon State Postal Shoot contact me and I will send you an entry form and the rules for the disciplines that you are interested in.
